7. If you get black flags:
Go to Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II. In there, delete the folder called "gfx". After that, edit settings.txt.
Change the following settings to:

x=1024
y=768
}
fullScreen=no

Now restart your game. If this helps, you can change back to fullscreen/nice resolution again, and the flags should be there.
