I've purchased today EUIV and have difficulties with running it. After using steam launcher I see only black screen which turns into pink shapes and nothing else happens (however I hear music). Attaching screen , DxDiag log and EU error log. Are you able to help me?

Definitely a video issue from that log. I've not come across that T1200 nVidia before, not sure if that is related to your issue at all, to be honest.

Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Edit that settings.txt to say:

refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no
vsync=no

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode.

Does that help? If not I suggest you seek a refund for the game from where you got it, I'm sorry!

Unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem :/
AndrewT is probably right that it is a graphics card issue, but one thing which you could still try would be to check the playset section of the launcher to make sure that there are no active mods. Steam allows you to subscribe to mods for games which you don't own, so you might have accidentally subscribed to an eu4 mod long ago and then steam installed that mod when you installed eu4 and the launcher automatically activated all your mods. And a very outdated mod could cause big graphics problems. If that doesn't help, you can try to verify the integrity of game files and if that doesn't help, you can try a clean reinstall as described in my guide on reddit about common startup problems with version 1.29 to make sure that it is not caused by a broken eu4 installation(again make sure that there are no mods after the clean reinstall).

If I see it correctly, you have an Intel integrated GPU besides your nvidia GPU. While intel GPUs are not officially supported by eu4, they work most of the time and yours should be fast enough to run eu4 reasonably well. So you could try to configure your system to use the Intel GPU for eu4(I think it can be done in the nvidia control panel).

Disclaimer: I'm not working for Paradox. I'm just trying to help people.

The NVidia T1200 is a graphics chip without a direct monitor driver/connector. Instead, another graphics card/chip needs to be present, which takes care of displaying whatever gets calculated on the T1200.

Hello
Apologies for digging up the thread again, but I have the exact same issue with the exact same text in the error.log.
I own a RTX3070, do you think it might be causing this problem, do you see any way out of it?

Thanks in advance!

Has this always been the case with this game, or it used to be okay up to some point?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Hey AndrewT

I was unable to ever launch EU4 on this PC.
I would like to mention that settings.txt I tried numerous options with resolution, full-screen/borderless/window, refresh rate, not sure how it is currently set.

Thanks in advance!

You haven't implemented the settings I posted in #2 above - please try that.

If that still doesn't help, you should do a clean reinstall of your nVidia software, via this tool https://developer.nvidia.com/cleanup-tool

Good luck!

Unfortunately, neither solution helped.
Did you check if there might be mods which you don't know about like I explained in this comment? And if there are no mods, do the files which the error.log complains about actually exist in your eu4 installation folder?(e.g. gfx/FX/simple.shader )

I haven't checked if all instances listed in error.log are present, but the first few are.

Also, as you can see (if you obviously translate from polish lol) I do not have mods

Make a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that. Do you get the same issue then?

I've just seen another case of this with EU4; in that case there was also an Intel video system installed but it had no driver installed. Could that be the case here?

If not, I frankly have no idea what is wrong on this machine to cause this to you. Please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here please.

I use AMD Ryzen CPU.
Speccy attached.

DIsable the Discord overlay, and unload GeForce Experience before starting the game.

If that doesn't help, I don't know what could be doing this to you!

Does it have an integrated video system? If so that is probably the problem, you need to instal a driver for that.

It is AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, so it does not have an integrated GPU.

EDIT. Just to mention, I was searching for a solution on reddit a week ago or so. Someone there suggested downloading CKII from steam and checking if that works, as it supposedly uses similar engine to EU4. I had no problem launching CK II. I also own stellaris and hoi 4, and can run the games normally.
