Black Eagle Rising: A Russia Kaiserreich AAR
Russia in 1936 was a dying nation. The hopes of those like Maxim Gorkiy, that the period of hyperinflation, brutal street violence, crushing poverty, and collective nihilism and despair following Russia's defeat in the Great War could lead to opportunity for real social change, were unfulfilled. The humiliating Treaty of Lwow, signed in 1917, forced Russia to give up the entirety of its Eastern European holdings, as well as admit full responsibility for the war, and to pay huge sums of money to Germany as reparations, far more than was just. The Russian people would be furious if they weren't so disheartened and apathetic. The nation was in dark times indeed.

The Kerensky administration, which at this point had ruled Russia for almost 20 years, was indecisive, ineffective and out of touch with the average Russian. They were growing more and more unpopular by the day. The nation was descending into anarchy, with far-left gangs killing ultra-nationalists and vice versa in the streets of Moscow and Petrograd.

At 3 in the morning on January 4, 1936, the unthinkable happened. As he was traveling to the home of his mistress, Alexander Kerensky was shot and killed by a lone gunman of unknown political orientation.
The country was plunged into utter chaos. Only one man could restore the Russian Empire to its former glory, to save his nation from the edge of the final precipice.
That man was Pyotr Wrangel.
