Black Dynasty Flags AGAIN

Hello, I'm sorry.

Yes, I know this has been covered many myriads of times.

Known Issues 7 doesn't seem to work for me at all whatsoever. I have even deleted the entire folder and had it recompiled and the images still aren't restored. The only way I can get the flags to reappear correctly is a full reinstall, but for whatever reason, the game often hangs at launch. Many times this is on the Paradox emblem screen, and from here I can only shut it down through the task manager.

Is there anything I can do to get this sorted out?

Are you sure you deleted it from the My Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II and not from the main game folder?

Hello. Yes, I'm sure, but now that I think about it, I have only noticed the flags still being black when I load save games.

Are the dynasty flags saved into a game's save data?

The last time when I deleted the entire folder, the flags returned, but when I returned to my multiplayer game and the host synced the file over they were black again. Maybe that's the issue.

No, graphics like flags are not part of the saved game, nor are they synced in MP. I don't know what is happening in your case, but I know it's not that.

So what is your exact situation now? The game is hanging at launch sometimes, or often? What do you have to do to get around this - kill it in task manager then restart? At what exact stage of loading does it hang, and how long have you waiting there to be sure it's permanently hung?

Same story here

I am experiencing the same issues. I am a PC user and I have the game on Steam. It shows mostly black flags when I select any of the start-dates. I am unable to raise any levies.

You don't say either way - have you deleted the /gfx/ folder from under Documents/CK2? Did it get recreated when you ran the game again?

The OP says his game hangs; you say you are in the same situation yet you don't mention that - is that happening to you too?

You say you can't raise levies, yet the OP doesn't mention that. I suspect this is an utterly unrelated issue; for a start patch 2.0 has drastically reduced levy sizes.

I have deleted all of the files under Doc/CK2 and it is recreated as I reinstall. I sometimes get crashes at start-up as I'm loading graphics. Honestly I'm not sure what hanging is when it comes to PC games. Is he talking about lag?

No. Hanging means the game loads to a certain point and then just stops, never progressing to fully loaded.

Do you have GG or Steam? Either way try a full clean reinstall:

STEAM
a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local files" in Steam
- manually delete all files left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a verify when done.

GAMERSGATE
a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- uninstall the game from Windows
- manually delete all files left under the GG CK2 AND Documents/CK2 folders
- re-install game from GG but point it to a new location outside the system path, such as c:\games\ck2\
- apply the latest patch (only)

During the initial load it crashes quite a bit. I made it to loading flags or sounds and crashes again. I deleted all of the local files in Steam and all of my files for CK2 in my doc folder, reinstalled and verified. I am not sure what is wrong. Is there a beta patch out that might help me? I sometimes try to set the priority of CK2 to high before I finish loading and that helps me get further sometimes but I still crash once I get in game. De-activating Sons of Abraham doesn't work. It's always kind of a bummer that I have a lot of stability issues after new DLC comes out. I can't wait to finally play.

No, there are no beta patches available right now. Even if there were they wouldn't help you, as your problem is not a known game bug and therefore no patch has been written to fix your situation, which is almost certainly a local issue.

Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.
