The beginning

In 1918 the Great War ended. The Great Ottoman Empire of over 600 years had lost. Battered and bruised by four years of war and many more of civil unrest, the oldest empire in Europe came crashing down. And, on 30th October 1918 The Armistice of Mudros was signed resigning The Ottoman Empire their fate. They had no choice but to sign the Treaty of Sevres, a humiliation forced on us by the British that the Turkish people never forgot. The treaty was signed with gritted teeth and we sat and watched in horror as the Greeks and British occupied our country and laughed at our people. But when their men marched through the streets of Constantinople we could not sit idle any longer. The Turkish national movement began and under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, over the course of three years, our exhausted people, through sheer determination forced the British occupiers out and won us back our independence. These heroes are still celebrated to this day, and in 1934 Mustafa Kemal was given the name Ataturk "Father of the Turks" to honour our countries savour.

The year is now 1936. Ataturk has spent the last 14 years rebuilding this once proud empire, and now, with the rise of nationalism and Dictators looking for outward expansion, Turkey looks to rise again. To earn its place back among the great powers and settle old scores. On the 1st of January 1936 Kemal Ataturk declared "Biz yine artacak". We Will rise again.

Looks interesting, are you actually planning to reclaim all the land on that picture? As in annex or occupy it directly? because if that is the case you will literally need to go to war with all 3 factions..

Hi Muha, Nice to have you on board. And to answer your question I will not be going to war with all three factions as I want to keep this slightly historical and I would almost certainly lose so I will not get all the land in that picture. But I wont say who I'll be aligning with now or how much land I'm aiming to get as I'm saving that for the next update :)

I'll be definitely following this! ;D

And I hope that by saying that you want to "keep this slightly historical" you mean that you're not going for an early conquering spree in the Balkans... that's always pretty disappointing, you know. =p

There will be no early conquering spree and my neutrality starts at 90 while my neighbours threats are zero so it will not be possible and to say when I'll next update I had the update ready for tonight but then my computers decided to stop working (I'm writing this from my phone) so, sorry for a delay but when my computer starts working the first thing I will do is update this

Glad to know you won't be using the noneutrality cheat: that's sadly frequent in AARs involving minor countries. .__. I'll be waiting for your computer to decide to start working again, then. ;D

Chapter 1: A New Dawn (1st January 1936)

1936 began the same as 1935 ended for many countries, but Turkey was not one of them. 1936 signalled the start of a rearmament and modernisation process for the Turkish armed forces and the country as a whole. Although the country had been rebuilt valiantly since the ashes of the Great War the still young country was entering a new stage of development as 1936 rolled in.

HoI3_2_zps1c787d8b.png

Before we could modernise our armed forces we must first modernise our industry. Our pre war techniques and factories could not serve a modern expanding army. So we must research techniques that will make our industries more efficient and produce more as our pre war techniques are outdated. Also we must research and teach our engineers how to build more modern factories and industries to improve our countries building capacities.

HoI3_4_zps3acf85cc.png

You may have also noticed from the last screenshot the high number of leadership we are devoting to our spy network. This is because we need our spies to try and justify our future aggressive actions against our neighbours by convincing the world that they are a threat to peace (and that will be very difficult when one is Albania ;) ) and our spies must also improve our abysmal 54% National Unity and rally our people to our cause. Once we have enough spies in our network we will lower it to allow for more of our sparse leadership to be dedicated to research.

HoI3_5_zps85e4e386.png

To help us and our future we have reorganized our cabinet to improve the Intel our spy network gives us during peacetime and to help us with our research of infantry as our army will be infantry based and I will depend upon infantry for my victories.

HoI3_1_zps7f4682e8.png

I decided to start by producing three cavalry brigades as on the desert front I will mainly be relying on cavalry at the start of this game to guard the border and the three cavalry divisions I have all have two brigades and I do not believe they are strong enough with only 6,000 men when mobilized so to make the cavalry corps an effective fighting force I decided to make three brigades that will only take six months to make and I will add one to each cavalry division.

In the a very controversial move by our Government the order was sent to our ambassador in Germany to try and get 'cosier' with the Germans until they would consider an alliance. We made the decision to align with Germany for simple reasons. Even though most of the cabinet disagreed with some of Hitler's policies and statements, we shared the mutual goal of wanting to expand and to regain lost territories and restore the old empires of Europe. Also we had fought alongside the Germans during The Great War and they had proven themselves valuable and adept allies. The Government also believed we would share the same enemies in the future, namely the Soviet Union, so the decision was made to align with The German Reich.

Good luck with Turkey, and seems interesting that you are going the route of the Axis powers, you'll lose out on the European lands as they all align Axis too! Although, you can beat up on the Allies. Looking forward to what happens next.

Cheers!

I hope that I can get Greece as they will join the allies and hopefully have low enough neutrality to invade Bulgaria before they join the axis, however if that is not possible then at least the axis will have a very strong southern front ;D

Chapter 2: Moving forwards (2nd January 1936-20th July 1936)

HoI3_8_zps43381b4f.png

On 13th April our Government passed a law which meant we could dedicate more of our countries resources to training our troops which would help make our ambitions for the future of this country a reality.

HoI3_9_zpsfea98e95.png

On the same day Persia asked if they could buy plans to build some of our modern Curtiss Hawk III fighters. However we refused this request because Persia is on out border and although they will probably never invade us, in the event of a war with the Uk we may have to invade Persia to get to British India and if we do go to war with Persia we want the advantage in the skies.

HoI3_10_zpsf49ed743.png

Italy's war with Ethiopia had been raging for many months before they finally conquered the African country and installed a government loyal to Rome. Although this conflict was happening many miles away and was seen as a colonial war, this result still pleased our Government as it proved to them that other countries were looking to expand as well as themselves.

HoI3_13_zps80cf8342.png

To improve our capacity to build arms the Government decided to take over some privately owned factories. To keep our rearmament a secret the owners of these businesses were told by the Turkish secret police it was for 'The good of the country' as the reason for the takeover.

HoI3_12_zps73d59861.png

All Turkish divisions had previously been controlled by one HQ in the capital, this was seen as backwards and not good enough for a modern military force and so the military was reorganized as well as it could be for the relative size of our army. The 1st Infantry corps was set up along our Balkan front. The southern front we would be defended by the Cavalry corps although with only three divisions this was seen as and inept defence should the British and the French come knocking any time soon. And our Soviet front would be defended by The 2nd Infantry corps and the sole mountain division we had, this was also seen as a poor defence should Stalin want control of the exit of the Black sea for his Navy.

HoI3_14_zps1d3ab4e1.png

The leading brains in Turkey confirmed that we had discovered more modern and more efficient ways for our industries to work and also ways to produce more which would help us produce more arms.

HoI3_15_zps16b6299f.png

On 20th July our Cavalry brigades were complete which would improve the strength of our cavalry divisions and the strength of our southern front

HoI3_16_zpsd110a98f.png.html

So with our army reorganised to be a more modern force and our first of many improvements to our army complete the decision was made to prepare our country for the inevitable conflict that we would undoubtedly play a part in, and Prepare for War!

Subbed, though flooding Iran's build queue for the remainder of the game could've been useful. War is won on the land! :p

Timing must be key I gather with your goals with Turkey! Don't want to rush to join the Axis too quickly with powerful Allied/Comintern enemies along your borders! :glare:

Personally can't wait to see how you do, I've always been fond of Turkish AARs attempting to recreate the OE!
