I would like know if someone can answer this question.

Does bigger/wealthier means huge edge on tech development? IMO even on a simple level this isn´t reasonable - if my neighbour has wonderfull military tech, that knowledge is bound to jump across the frontier - the guy with most money would have an edge but they their neighbours should have an easier time catching up!

An extreme example: imagine that the aztecs beated the europeans in a couple of battles and they got their hands on nice metal guns, nice ships, NICE HORSES :) etc. They were bound to learn something and next time the nasty europeans showed up things wouldn´t be as easy :)

Bigger often means wealthier, thus in turn means more money to invest into tech. However, Stability raising is more expensive if you are big than small. A country that is inferior to his neighbours in a given area of technology does get a bonus in proportion to his inferiority.

The Papal States in my AAR had a huge bonus from technology transfer. The reason for that the Papal States never catched up with their neighbours was that I fought so many wars. after each war I had to invest all my money into raising stability. Low stability kills ! That's a golden rule...

Agreed. This happened in my AAR playing as Sweden to begin with. Fighting too many wars, when it was beyond my meager means was causing my country to be unstable for many years.

* Be patient, use diplomacy rather than all out aggression on the field as your weapon

* grow your armies, slowly, if you have a good relationship with the countries bordering you. Invest heavily in promotion
of officials / building of forts.
