This is why I stated earlier the simple fact that playing any scenario PRIOR to 1936 and you have AoD + IC please dont whine about the conversion process when you have not even RESEARCHED it to have it. I am quite frankly bewildered that so many are moaning about a bug in which the devs have said "We didnt put this in prior to 1936 because of AI command" and yet so many are still making it a big deal. Granted the AI now is throwing all the resources away due to someone on this forum that absolutely needed to have the plants at start of the game. So what the devs put into making the game playable with out it and it worked, the community required it be there and now its broken and everyone is up and arms about it. Sigh, I know some have to have this to play, but personally its not a game breaker, especially since historically only Germany ever made or even produced Synthetic Oil let alone Materials. Give it a rest people, I say to DEVS, take it OUT! Let the manual player build them and the AI if it so needs to.

I fail to see the point of having a plant that costs you hundreds of energy on a daily basis.
I just turned it off and never look at it again.
If the AI cant handle it and lose all their energy over its an issue that definitely needs fixing.

Please do not increment based on my post because.
I don't fail to see the point of having a plant that cost you a decent amount of enerfy on a daily basis.
I just turned it off but want to use it later on in game.
AoD AI can handle it so it is IC AI or balance of this feature which screws it up.

Quintelosky has been clear in saying that this "AI handling" is a result of abundant resources in the vanilla AOD environment that allows the AI to have conversion in full 100% slider without lack of resource issues. But this is not due to a smart AI command that handles the issue the a more historical Iron Cross resource situation.

Playing AoD1.05 with IC rev2 the game still has problems with the ground_def_eff modifier. In 1941 sov have a modifier of 0.7, while I as Germany have 1.0. A possible reason is that the modifier for the sov scenario file is missing. The result is that the Russians are beaten within 1-2 month. Further every new country, that is released after scenario start (e.g. Spain, but also some others and all released countries) start with an modifier of 0.8.

Quintelosky has been clear in saying[...]

Well first of all claiming that Quintelosky has been clear in saying anything on this matter is a bold statement...

that this "AI handling" is a result of abundant resources in the vanilla AOD environment that allows the AI to have conversion in full 100% slider without lack of resource issues. But this is not due to a smart AI command that handles the issue the a more historical Iron Cross resource situation.

You are wrong and Quintelosky is just trying to blame it on someone who's not him. The expansion (IC) is advertised as compatible with AoD, is it not? So now stating that this feature is broken because of AoD doesn't make much sense. The "smart ai command" is also total BS, since commands aren't smart, nor are AIs smart, only human beings are smart and Quintelosky has been smart in putting smoke into your eyes. Resources in AoD are abundant, so what? The feature is an AoD feature and it works with it because of these characteristics, if Iron Cross devs want to advertise their expansion as compatible with AoD, when they change stuff (resource distribution) they should make sure these changes don't clash with other features. So instead of blaming bugs on others work, Quintelosky could maybe have written down this AI command, or otherwise should have not implemented the feature or should have changed resource distribution. Implementing a feature knowing that it will break the game is not very smart... so my guestimate is that Quintelosky did make some mistake.
The bottom line is:
- The Synthetic material plants feature in AoD works. AoD devs are responsible for their own product.
- The Synthetic material plants feature in IC does not work. IC devs are responsible for their own product.
I think these two statements say it all and are certainly clearer than anything Quintelosky ever tried to say in this thread.

I've observed a number of games playing as the GER (1933) that Russia soon has no army. I go into the savegame file and check, and Russia has no energy, no supplies, and very little money. This triggers the Ukrainian revolt and Russia loses most of that area, which becomes an independent nation. Sometimes it looses Belarus too. I went into the savegame file and gave the Soviets a huge amount of energy, supplies and money, but it took them several years (I did this in 1934) to start building divisions again. When I invade the SU it's going to be a walkover.

The easiest solution is to delete all synthetic plans in the scenario or savegame file. I did this and except for the gde bug later the game had no major issues anymore.
Btw in the 1933 scenario there shouldn't be any synthetic plants anyway + IC has so many resources, rendering the small production of resources via plants irrelevant.

I not found synthetic plans in the scenario files of 1933.
Where can I find synthetic plans to delete?

I think I have beaten this issue to death on 3 or more threads now. I have given my reasons for it and against it, thus I have noticed in Rev 2 that the Allies do recover from the initial phase of losing all their Energy, but over time I still see France, UK, USSR and others asking me (Germany) for 150 plus energy or more, which makes me wonder if the "fix" is actually working. I even read the code for it, understand the logic, but dont think its really addressing the issue properly as evidence here.

Well I posted that information in another thread for Revision 1, but for Revision 2 just go to your "db" folder and you should see the file "province_rev". Open that up in text editor and go down to "Refinerias" and either delete all of this or comment it out with "#" in every line. Either way works and no one will start with Oil Plant Refineries at start of game.
