The Dutch also had soldiers fitted with ice skates.

So wouldnt this justify an entirely new brigade type?
The Mobility Brigade: Representing the extra mobility of bikes, skis, and skates.

Certainly I would fit most of my forces with such brigades if they existed (I usually fit most of my army with engineers just for their extra mobility)

the problem is that the brigade would be trained for ALL terrain conditions (snow, jungle etc) Though it is something to consider.

I think there should be zepplin units for spying.

no game is complete without Zeppelins, if I could justify putting it in EU2 or CK I would.

Notes: -Need to fix the icon
-Would people prefer it added as a new armoured car type instead of replacing basic AC?
-Is anyone interested in testing this mod?

You got bikes you can bike orders around the division right? Organisation!

You got bikes you can send groups through wooded areas around the enemy to surprise them, right? Soft attack!

The Germans in april 1945 used Panzerjagd-kommando's, those were troops who used bikes for transportation and were armed with 6 Panzerfauste, so I would say also give them some hard attack. :D

You complain about armored cars being useless, look at these bicycles, there even worse than amored cars and cost about the same. And i believe in the new combat mission game they have bicycle companys. But they only use bicycles for transportation. What soldier or platoon rides through the forest, stop outside the enemy camp, shoots and bikes away. Armored cars just seem way more practical. I don't think that bicylces played a major role in any major battle.

Wasent it standard for the belgian divisions to have bicycle groups? Remember so from checking up their division organization.

one could argue that bikes raise organization, but imagine how low the increase in org is already when adding brigades of real value, how much org-bonus should one get from bikes? +1%, +2%? makes no difference...

Haha, this was the bizzarest thread ever.

Anyways, just as an addition to this strange subject: I actually think the Swedish army used bisycles well into the eighties (and perhaps still do?!) - I guess it's cheaper than using lorries and faster than marching
...and a lot more fun for bystanders!

Into the eighties, reorg. 1985 was what finally sent them out of the army I think.
