And buying a game is, in fact, a transaction.
You can indeed choose to see it that way. I won't bother to address what I think about that attitude because that will mean getting more political than the mod team likes, but I actually included a real reference to a genuine academic philosopher cum public philosopher who expresses how I see things here. If you feel like having a meatier argument go and read Michael Sandel or listen/watch any of the vast amount of content he's put out.
That said, I am entirely allowed to express why I gave money to HBS when I backed the game in Kickstarter. I didn't in fact back it in order to get the game. What I did was far more ambitious than that: I put my money where my mouth was in order to get something that I actually care about made, a game that captured the spirit of a game and setting I have loved for two decades.
There is a very real and powerful difference between those two things.
