Here's some other ideas for those interested (focused on plotting):

It seems to me that Mercenaries and Holy Orders are way too bland in the game – there’s basically no interaction with them. They don’t include real characters, only tools a player use against his or hers enemies. There’s so much room for improvement here, that I’m quite confident we’ll see a DLC covering the subject at some point.
For now here’re some ideas I had for them:
Mercenaries
Mercenary leader wants a holding as payment
Just what it says – if you say no it won’t happen again with the same leader and it always targets a holding that is of lower level than your primary one. If you do agree you get a discount on the mercenary group’s cost and once the war is over the leader will ask you to hand over a holding. If you agree he loses his position in the mercenary company and becomes an ordinary character in his new holding as your vassal. If you refuse the mercenaries gain reinforcements (to avoid abuses) and attack you (if the company was destroyed during war it spawns in the contested holding).
Mercenaries won’t fight a losing war
Mercenaries are people too and they don’t like the idea of dying, even for a lot of money. If you’re in a losing war and the enemy has major numerical advantage the mercenaries may decide to abandon you. Occasionally they may decide to join the enemy side.
Mercenaries loot a province
Mercenaries may loot enemy provinces they besiege. If they do all title holders in the county will get a relations penalty with you and loose some income.
Holy Orders
Holdings
As it currently stands Hashashin and Holy Order holdings given by events start with no buildings whatsoever. This makes them quite vulnerable to attack, especially so considering that their holders have very little income. My suggestion would be to make the events that create them add some buildings and give some money to the Order’s leader.
Sons far in the line of succession joining Holy Orders
This has been suggested a number of times – an event where an unmarried son that has no visible chance of inheriting anything may decide to join a Holy Order. Which Order they would join would depend on the culture of the character.
A trait for the knight of the Holy Orders
Simply put – a trait that would designate characters as knights of a Holy Order – would be given to any character joining the order as well as some of their courtiers. The knights could not marry or inherit (they could still have bastard children of course).
Knight of the Order
Cannot marry
Excluded from inheritance
Children cannot inherit
+ Martial
+ prestige and piety
+ relations with other knights
Heir control
Two issues here: one – if you decide to hand a title to your heir they will leave your court and you’ll lose most control over them – they will happily assign their children useless guardians and marry them to random people and they have a nasty tendency to get murdered for petty reasons. Two – children are way too complacent about the marriages you organize for them (unless they own a holding). So that’s both not enough and way too much control over children.
Invite heir to the court
A decision – taking it fires an event where your heir with a holding is asked to join your court, if they agree they gain a regent in their holding (quite like being on Hajj).
Disinheriting a child
Only available if your hair has acted really dishonourable to avoid abuse. One possible reason is having the kinslayer trait or being Muslim (for Christians) or Christian (for Muslims) or Pagan (for both).
Son/daughter doesn’t want to marry their betrothed one
An event where a childe doesn’t want to follow with your plans you may try to force them into marriage (they may try to flee), put them under house arrest until they are married (they are less likely to flee, but will dislike you a lot), or break the betrothal.
Son/daughter escapes court with lover
Exactly what it says – the child does not need to actually have a lover – if they don’t have one a random courtier of their age will be generated and they both flee.
Son/daughter marry lover in secret
Similar to the above but the child marries their lover instead of leaving court. You may try to have the marriage proclaimed invalid.
