BftB Bulgaria: Is Tsar Boris supposed to be a dead-end?

First off: I do not own the new DLC, but I have watched people play Bulgaria with it.

And one of the things that strikes me about Bulgaria's new tree is that the path where you keep Tsar Boris III in power seems to be a dead-end, the only path that does not lead to the bottom part of the tree where you can make factions, get wargoals et cetera. Considering that Boris was the "unifier", under whom Bulgaria (temporarily) regained its lost territories, this seems just wrong.

Is there a way for Bulgaria to progress down the focus tree while keeping Boris (my favorite WW2 ruler, by the way) alive?

Yep, you do' Approach Germany' from 'Bulgarian Irredentism'. It's an issue in the layout but idk how I'd rearrange the whole tree to make it better
