Better Performance for the Game

For me it's some choppyness when scrolling that's the real problem though, which I had even with EU3 but CK2 is free from it, although all of them use Clausewitz. I have a 2GB GeForce 520, so that buffer is helpful but apparently still no cigar. I'll give it a try later on to see if the gods are with me, and if not I can always drop by on monday to buy a new graphics card if the full game continues to display the problems.

Nuh uh. Might as well not play it when the borders look like they have holes in them.

I forgot to measure the FPS the first time I ran so I just noticed that this game will use the integrated GPU instead of the fast one, so if you have two cards. That may also be the problem for some. I had to manually pick The nVidia card and jumped from ~35FPS to 60FPS instant. The game will cap at 60 FPS but thats great cause my screen cant show any more.

Use the Start menu and search for nVidia or AMD.

Edit: You should also check for updates for your GPU while your in there.

I get a noticeable hiccup every first of the month. It may be due to calculations, but I like to think it's because of the yellow number text for province money and the sound that comes with it. And there's no option to get rid of it! Why is no one else annoyed by this? My only complaint in a great game so far.

Same thing is happening to me. Also choppiness in scrolling not seen in CK2 demo. This is removed if I turn off some of the graphics, but I specifically chose this computer as it's supposed to handle both games without the need for such measures.

Same here. CK2 runs smoothly, EU4 gets better with virtually everything turned off, but it doesnt make sense. I even have this same issue with EU-freaking-III! I'm betting on the driver or engine here, really, though my Nvidia is allegedly up to date.

Specifically, I'm at GeForce 320.49 Driver, whatever that may mean.

for me EU3 was really fast even as I built a lot of buildings and military units and colonized like crazy(with minimal graphics settings). CK2 was also really fast but this demo is not fast at all, in fact I do not see much difference between the levels of speed. The only notable difference between the speed setting is the smallest (1) and the one after that (2).

I run Vicky2, CK2 and most Paradox games nicely, but this demo runs effectively slower, especially on the day of month change. I hope it gets optimized in the near future.

Still we have to remember that this is a demo. The real version is maybe faster (I hope) plus there will be patches...

It's super fluid for me for most parts and I have an old Q6700 and a very mediocre HD5770.

The only sluggishness is when I'm playing at five speed, but it doesn't bother me too much, won't be playing that speed and doing anything of worth anyway. Not like I'm going to peform actions and fight wars on speed 5.
I'm thinking it's the CPU having hard time to keep up with the number of calculations done when days move past so fast.

20-40fps in speed 4.

15-25fps in speed 5.

40+ at lower speed,

Mine lags the further out I am scrolled (Veiw more of the map), and also the further out i am scrolled the more swipes of the mouse wheel I need to do to scroll out or back in, even a tiny bit.

Dont know if that made any sense what so ever....

I have the following setup: Intel i5-2500 @ 3.30 GHz, 8 gb ram, and a GeForce GT 520 2 GB Video Card

Your card is below the minimum spec, the minimum is 8800 while GT520 is about the level of 8600 I believe.

Out of curiosity, who built your computer? Those GT x20s I thought are for the Pentium guys to bump their old machines. With an i5 it's next to useless honestly.
