Hello. After a while downloading asset for the work shop, and creating somes intersection myself.

I find the content manager -> Asset window NOT handy AT ALL, since it regroup everything ( building - road patern - park - color correction )

- When enter the Asset Window please add tab / sub menu to separate : building - road patern - park - color correction - prop it would be way more clear.
If sub menu, we should, ofc, be able to minimize them, or not.

- Allow us to completly rename the various asset IN the Asset window ( like a button, or rmb -> rename )... how many time i had to go to the asset editor, load my asset RE take a picture, and save.. And ofc going back to the asset window to delete the "old one" just to change the name..
Its a bit annoying ^^

In game :

Allow something like that
xmu58o.jpg

- Let us create news tab for custom "road" if we want to set only custom roundabout / intersection / road patern.. etc.
- Let us increase the size of that window verticaly.. Only beeing able to see 7 assets and only an horizontal navigation is NOT handy.
- Give us the icon for our custom asset :(

I might not think to everything, but i guess that could really help :)

EDIT : I forget, please, sort at least the asset by name in the in game tab... :/

EDIT bis : And why there is tons of different folder for the asset snapshot ? why cant they all be in the same folder for a better management ? i dont understand..

Oh yes, we (at least I) desperately need the vertical extension of the assets selection window.
My parks alone would as of now fill more than 4 rows with 7 items.

I think 3 rows will be fine, because it doesn't obstruct too much of your view.

Plus: Scrolling should be vertical instead of horizontal. That way, click on the horizontal scroll button and see 7 different items instead of just 1.

I think the success of the assets on the Workshop has perhaps caught CO by surprise. The UI has been designed to handle maybe 10-20 assets, but I've already downloaded maybe 40-50 different parks and things. So I think CO need time to update the UI to reflect the increased quantity of items that the menus are intended to navigate. I note someone has done a mod that attempts to provide something similar.

And whilst on the subject, I wish the UI told me the dimensions of the asset, rather every author having to make part of their asset name specify the size!

This! +1

Would LOVE to see a better icon support on personal assets.

Browsing trough tabs of just the cubed square wall thingy's or weird colored items gives me a real betá game feeling!!

Also, It's really hard to find what you want when you have 20+ or more mods in the intersection or parks tab. :)

Slowly? The game's been out for less than a month (about ~18 working days?) and CO have already released two patches! And considering the second patch was pulled and re-released as a beta-patch due to unexpected difficulties I don't think pushing for a faster patch cycle is necessarily a good thing.

I mentioned this before: Can't we have a dynamic search filter in game? Let's say I want to add a "small park" to my city. I open the asset tab and start entering "s - m - a - l" and so on, and with each letter typed, the filter dynamically narrows down the assets displayed in the tab, until only "small park" and "small playground" are visible, which I can then easily pick and select. Instead of scrolling dozens and dozens of identical white lego icons, which is annoying.

Prison Architect has this feature, and there are only some 30 objects or so in their menus.

Please cf. their dev vidblog #28

....the feature is explained at 4:15. But you can just go ahead and watch the whole thing, their videos are pretty entertaining :D

The developers in my opinion are working in our interests. The recent patch included a note saying that paid updates are coming. I see a lot of people complaining at this, but as long as they fix and continue to provide smaller updates, I think we should totally support them. After all, it means a better game.

Let them do their thing at the proper speed and the game will be better for it. If they misstep, the community will let them know. They seem to be the opposite of the EA type. They will listen, which is what's so awesome about these forums. They may not get on here and comment, but they read them and seem to pay attention.

Make your customers happy, and you will make more money. Seems like a no brainer to me. Which is why I never bought the latest Sim City.

paid update ?

You are going to misslead a lot of ppl saying that like that.

its paid EXTENSION
+
Free upate.

its FAR more different than "paid update"

But anyway, it doesnt change the initial subject, that have not been solved at all with the lasted update.
When imho its a far more important thing than tunnel or so considering how the modding / asset quantity is high...

Could be very kind to have some official statement about that.

Do CO plan to do something ? or.. do you have to wait for a modder to solve that serious issue ?

I'd like to throw my thoughts into this discussion. I am a modeler and have created over 100 assets for the workshop. most of them are props, some are park assets. but, my main concern right now when deciding what to create and release is "Menu Clutter". I support any kind of mod or official update that will give us more control over the UI. I also believe that CO did not anticipate the huge demand for mods either so I don't hold anything against them at this point.

I also want to say that I am posting this just after patch 1.1 and we have just received the ability to add thumbnails to props and trees. I went back over my 50+ props that I have released since launch and I re-imported all of them to have thumbnails. it took me about 2 days or so to do that, but, now that we have thumbnails I feel it was worth the time investment. Thank you CO for that update.

what I would love to see as far as the UI goes:
1. There should be a default sorting of some kind, preferably alphabetical by title or file name. as it is now, it seems to be randomly sorted each time I load up the game.
2. There should be a search feature similar to what Cubical Warrior posted about above.
3. It would be amazing if we could either add new tabs while we were playing the game or at least give the asset creators the ability to put new assets into new tabs, or even allow asset creators to put new assets into other tabs that already exist instead of having everything default to the same tab. I would have no qualms about going back over my 100 assets and re-updating them to go into special tabs; just give us the ability to do it please ;)
4. Smaller icons which gives us the ability to display more of them on the screen at once which reduces scrolling; and/or the ability to scroll vertically so we can get through our lists more efficiently.
