Hey guys... After gaining enough experience at map making and city design, i've decided to present my first decent vanilla project: Betschbourg.

Betschbourg is made on a custom map that features a lot of small rivers (some are navigable), a marsh, an ancient castle and ruins of ancient walled cities. I tried to give it an European vibe and it will definitely look like a classic cultural European metropolis, in the future...

Again, this is 100% vanilla, with only custom assets made in the vanilla editor being implemented.

In the meantime, the city is just growing and this is how it looks like.

A lot of fertile land located around the walled village. A highway passes around it in an attemt to prevent the historical site from losing its original charm

The starting historical site features four gates in which roads can pass through. Of course, it is too small to contain an entire population, so many houses had to be built outside of the walled city.

The other side of the village features some farmlands and a nice rural landscape

Some houses settled by the river. How nice it is to have a quiet little river down the garden?

The village is growing well and the authorities have ordered the plantation of a forest on its western side... to keep oxygen to an acceptable level as the economy is booming

Betschbourg is expanding very quickly. It's time to organize the city and turn it into an actual town. An actual town center is taking shape on its eastern end, on the other side of the highway. Larger buildings will rise and thousands of people will move in.

As more people come, they become more demanding. Riverside promenades have been created where walkers, joggers and cyclists would find a top notch environment for their activities.

Those who prefer wild areas can also have a walk into the forest. Clear and well maintained pathes have been opened for those in need of some oxygen

The reverse side of the coin, caused by all this growth is a disastrous traffic. Actions will have to be taken in order to get rid of these traffic jams

As the city gets more and more attractive, more and more tourists come to town... by all kinds of different transportation! (again, this is vanilla. no mods)

We've doubled the highway that crossed the town and derouted it westward to join the freeway in another location.

The city keeps on growing and we start to see what will become the center of the metropolis . Oh and enjoy the interchange :D

The mayor expects tens of thousands of tourists. Huge infrastructures have been built to make sure everyone can make it into town.
