In the latest betapach (10/31), you can still Create Bishopric with dead Bishops.
In particular, one member of my court became Pope. When he died half a century later, he returned to court and I have the eternal option of creating him Bishop.
Also, the Byzantine Empire overran the Papacy, and now there is a crusade against them. Is that intended, or are the crusades just against infidels?
