Well what do you count as a test phase? If you can tell me that then we can probably get a number for you. Beta testing isn't just testing :)

Ah someone who hasn't worked in the software sector... ;) The test phase consists of several steps of which some can be termed development and some testing, and the amount of beta testers was increased during the steps. So to use the first set of testing as the qualifier for the beta testing is not going to be stringent. Better to use another definition :D

I have actually been in the hell of software (and hardware) development and been able to return from it as well :D
But, no... I havent worked in the software sector... I hate computers!!! *

But, we didnt develop anything so complex and potentially fun as HoI. We was forced to focus on boring factors like stability and reability, mostly beacuse our project was actually supposed to be used in real life.

I have learned the hard way that when someone says: "This thing is tested, and it works fine", it actually means that "Well its supposed to work anyway"

Step of a a C130 (cargo setup) in a foreign country after a six hour flight , feel completely disoriented and end up spending the next 48 hours without sleep running around like mad because people dont test things properly...

Does OT stand for Off-topic?

Unless they are running a fun game or otherwise work properly ;)

But OT (On Topic) ;)

What I was going to say is, that isnt it strange the ammount and severity of bugs (mostly in gameplay) that now have been reported got through final or even intial testing?
Been discussing this with a friend that infact is in the buisness and we both are a bit stunned.

Does anyone have good explanation?

This topic has been done to death in various threads.
The beta testers cannot defend themselves because of the NDA.
Company Policy is unlikely to be divulged here.
Yes - things went wrong. We all know that. Recrimination time is over. It is now time to go forward.
End of topic please - it isnt constructive or even helpful.
