Out of (anxious*) curiousity, do you (the devs) believe the beta selection will be finished sometime this week or at a later date. I assume that its going to take alot of time to sift through the applicants, so I was just wondering if you could even ballpark it?
I'm hoping it's Friday cause that's my 30th birthday and getting into the beta would be the best birthday present I could hope for.
Me and the guys I play MP with are also eager to see when the Beta Tests get handed out. cross our fingers
Well, unless all your MP group are accepted as betas they will not be able to see it until its released.

Just a question: will a beta in one category be able to report on an issue of any kind, or is he/she restricted to their own particular job?
At least in the past able yes, although focus should be on at least the area you have specified as your own interest and possibly further groupings done as testing goes.

You know, the testing is not that much fun as you maybe think, especially when you need to document a bug/improvements suggestion and make sure no one before suggested it.

It's actually a very rigorous process. They consider all of the eligible applicants, write their names on individual slips of paper, and then throw an armful of paper slips down a flight of stairs, with each step labeled with the name of a different testing category ("AI," "multiplayer," etc.) or "Rejected." Then, they count the number of people who didn't land on "Rejected," and if they have too many names then they pick up random slips from other categories, flip a coin, and if it lands on heads then that person is rejected. They do this coin toss until they have reduced the pool by an appropriate amount.
Of course I have absolutely nothing to base this on, but if I were them that's how I'd do it and I'm going to state it as a fact nonetheless.
