I'm almost positive that hordes are programmed to always accept tribute if offered; I won't swear to it, but I'm 99% sure that's the case.

i can confirm that that is untrue. my tibet game ended horribly because hordes dont accept tibetan currency. lol.

GH really shouldn't be conquering any more land in Europe, unless it's from other hordes. IMO the current system of horde annexation is off, as most of the current hordes in game, aside from the timmies, never conquered much more civilized land than they start with. I'd suggest that we tie horde annexation to the strength of a leader, so that Timur can conquer the whole world if he lives long enough, but some joke of a Khan in the GH can't annex his way to the Adriatic.

I think more could be done about both Spain forming and Ottoman Empire before finalizing this patch (except for the obvious horde mechanics).

It cannot be that impossible, all of these mechanics have worked fairly well at some point, we just need to work at the same time :).

My Ottomans games seem to be resulting in a failure to form Spain because the Iberians are (a) at each other's throats (b) unable to gain conclusive dominance.

In my Brittany game Castille totally dominates the Eastern Med and North Africa but fails to create Spain. Maybe because it ends up losing to France all the time?

Question, doesnt "beta" mean the patch will eventually be released? ... :p

I understand (but don't know why) that in Paradox terms - a full patch costs them a lot of money - while with a beta they can release it cheaply on the forum. So you will see (hopefully) many Paradox betas but few official patches. Thats why I prefer to buy from Gamersgate and not use steam with Paradox games. I can then easily use the betas.

People who keep pushing for a final patch need to understand that if a final patch is released and there are still major issues (as happened with the HTT final patch such as a CTD with the ledger and mod maps not working) you will have to wait a long time for another final patch ( with HTT you will wait forever). So why not just buy the game cheap on gamersgate and use the betas?

Its not like the "final" is so much more stable or bug free. With Paradox there is no guarantee the final is any more stable than the beta because they always try to tweak a few more things at the last minute in to the final which can result in problems.

Beside that you can use the beta with any digital version. No need to spread false information like, you can't use the beta with Steam. Just do what Johan wrote in the beta thread.

Make a copy of your EU3 DW installation and install this beta over the copy only; that way if the beta install goes badly you will not have to reinstall the whole game.

The beta doesn't need any registry entries nor does it have drm. It doesn't even require Steam to be installed.

The problem is that the game has been released in november or december IIRC. We're now in July, and there still haven't been a final patch released.

I would personnally not mind it, if it weren't for the disabled achievements. They were used quite a lot in the trailers and advertising for the game, yet, they've been disabled since the first beta patch (and screwed up the game before that).

I know some people don't care at all about achievements, but I do. So I don't really want to play a game that:
1 - will be made useless at the next beta patch release in three weeks
2 - doesn't have achievements.

Divine Wind (and EU3 as a whole) has been standing on my digital gamersgate shelves since I uninstalled it, one week after buying it. I really would like to play it, but I won't. And I understand why some people are asking for a final patch.

Made useless? How? Just download the beta patches and use them. If not having achievements is enough to stop you from playing EU then I'd venture to say you don't really care very much about playing it to begin with.

edit: That's not to say I disagree with the overall frustration with them not working after being heavily advertised. But Paradox also heavily advertised "improvements" to the RoTW, most of which (i.e. everything except the simple form Hindustan decision) have turned out to be broken, poorly thought out, and just not fun (hordes, factions system, Daimyo system). But EU is still a great game that I enjoy playing despite DW being a flop of an expansion, so I see no reason to limit myself from playing it.

When did I say you can't use it with steam? Don't put words in my mouth. And I am not employed by gamersgate.

I simply read the forum and while people who use steam can get the beta patch to work many don't know how. You see people in the mod forum asking how to use a mod with steam often - let alone not understanding how to install a beta with it.

If you remember back with HTT achievements did not exist and lots of people where yelling again and again for a final patch. The only reason would be 1) they have a mac or 2) they have steam and did not understand how to use a beta patch.

I spend a lot of time on the forum in the mod forum trying to help others and then I get flamed here.
