Its not about rights or how easy it is to register. To me it feels wrong and this feeling won't change any time soon. I'd call it principle but it may be the wrong word. I don't want to hijack the thread so lets agree to disagree.

Nor have I, I'm baffled by this. I've seen France overtake the UK a few times, (which I think is fine), I haven't seen Russia come within a billion miles of the UK industry-wise in... well, forever.

as a russia (me playing it) russia over took UK in industry fairly easily by ~1850 but the score was no where near 1000+

sorry for late reply

I'll bite. No sunshine, access to a game company's forums is not a fundamental human right. Paradox is entirely within its rights to limit access to certain forums to people who register the game (which signals they bought it legally). Nor is asking people to type a bunch of letters and numbers into a webpage for additional services 'extortion' or 'wrong'.

While I agree with your overall point, can we please stop saying "blablabla is not a human right" whenever someone complains about something?

Is anyone else noticing a shortage of small arms and cement in the early to mid game? Also Mexico seems to frequently get SOI'd by the USA, and China loves attacking Portuguese colonies.

@Shortages: Yep I noticed timber and cement in particular. Has been mentioned by others too I think. Also wool, fruit, etc later on.
@Mexico SOI: In my playthrough they were pulled out of the USA SOI by UK, and once manifest destiny kicked in, USA did not SOI them again.

Holy crap that's exhaustive, and well organized! PI devs should thank you for your efforts.

Thanks. So long as it helps and isn't just a useless blob of text.

I really think its a big improvement (sans the installation problems).

One annoyance is the fact that war declarations on you are rather silent. Should be pop up or pop up and pause by default.

@Notifications: You can go to Main Menu / Options / Message Settings. In there you can customize it to exactly how you like it. It's useful.

I saw the UK go behemoth 1.2 style in my playthrough. Not early on. But later on, definitely. But it's just one playthrough. Will try another.

So what's the deal with auto-disappearing rebel stacks?

I'm interested in this as well. I had several. They'd occupy like 40% of a province and disappear. Some barely made it to 10% before they decided they were done with this rebellion hype and went back home to their ladies in bed. At first I thought it was friendly nations with MIL access that kept cleaning them out when I wasn't looking. But apparently not; sometimes they just get bored of causing havoc and decide to go home mid seige. Quite the lazy buncha rebels if you ask me.

Folks, keep this thread on beta discussions. It's far easier for the devs to see your feedback this way.

There is a how and why to register sticky. If you chose not to register your game, that's your choice, but you'll have to live with the consequences then (ie, not tech support access, so no beta patch).

A few suggestions after a play through which don't seem to have been mentioned.

- The Hegemony War Goal for the German states should only become available after the Springtime of Nations has passed*, or, even better, after an attempt to form a liberal Germany via a Crown in the Gutter event has failed. This would quite neatly show the development of German nationalism from being a primarily liberal idea to a conservative/national idea, whilst also tidily stopping Germany forming too soon.

* Perhaps the Wars of Unification e.g. against Denmark should only became available after the Springtime of Nations event has fired for a German country, so we don't get any Schleswig-Holstein Wars in 1837.

- Ottoman Libya should be a colony, so we don't always end up with curly colonies that reach around into Cyrenica as the infamy cost of taking the Libyan coast is too high.

- Portugal really needs a hand in expanding its colonies in Africa. Idk how to achieve this though.

Maybe someone else asked already but there are 18 pages, about half of which I've read, and nobody said it in those. CBF reading another 9.

Days of insolvency counts the days without making a profit. However, when profit is made it doesn't clear, it starts counting backwards. That seems like a bad design because you can hover over a profitable factory and it'll day "8 days of insolvency" because it's working off the initial 14 days of insolvency after construction. Is it meant to work like that?

Yes, the idea is to show which factories are consistantly unprofitable rather than those which are just having a bad (or good) day.

Very few games multithread well, if at all. Not sure why everyone seems to think it is some industry standard. Maybe in 2 more years...

The new assert hegemony functionality appeared to not be working? I attack Austria in 1848, and beat them soundly, no sphered nations switched. I tried it with and without peacing out their spherlings.

Not a huge deal as they fell out of GP status 5 years later anyway, but still annoying to fight a war over control of saxony and not get it.

Well I dont really want to derail the thread - but it actually is. Galactic civilizations 2 which came out in 2006 was multithreaded... HOI/Vic2/EU3 are the only non multithreaded games I even have on my computer.

Question: what is the secret ingredient to make Age of Liberalism trigger for Austria? I decreased the 30% literacy requirement to 17% (Austria would never reach 30% before socialism triggers), but still it never fires.

To have the event fire, you have to give all the Hungary cores to Wallachia, Moldova, Serbia, and Slovakia. Sorry bro.

Bug or WAD: When you demand a lot of things from a country you've overrun, is it normal for the engine to just randomly decide what you'll get and what you won't?

I think the rebels are tied to pops the same way an army is now. So a pop of 300 people generates a 3000 person unit, after a bit of a rebellion the attrition causes the unit to disband because the pop no longer exists or is too small to sustain it.

As for venezuela having no immigrants, that seems to be a problem for anyone that isn't big.

Now if I could just get my ships to cross the pacific, I could actually play a game as Japan.

Am I the only person experiencing a chronic small arms shortage in all their games? I've tried three or four games as uncivs and in each of them I've been completely debilitated by being unable to buy virtually any small arms at all.

I think that's a very justifiable suggestion, but not quite viable. The thing with the Assert Hegemony wargoal and its underlying mechanism is, it's not specific for Germany, but generic for all culture groups, and is available whether there are at least two great powers inside the same culture group, and the union country doesn't exist for that group.
