I tried the Blue Emu sub's experiment this patch. I had about 70 subs at the beginning of the war. I'm in 1941 and my report is that I sunk a lot of convoys (how I can count them?) but the Brits are still fully supplied. So Italians have tough time.

By the way Gibraltar and Suez are not controlled by the Allies. This means that the British Navy in the Mediterranean is fully supplied by magic and is sinking all the ships she intercepts.

Just use the subs as warships and sink the rn. It wont work vs usa though. I ended up switching to basestrike doctrine to fight the usa.

In my currently game it looks like neither Nat.Spain nor Italy will annex Spain/Albania despite having owned all provinces for some weeks now.

I have not seen that. My allies seem to have no problem annexing countries. They do need to liberate some puppets though, ie: uk with ethiopia.

What countries will be released is set up in the AI.

Code:
liberate = {
	LIT
	FIN
}

But I am still a little confused about why only some countries are releasable by certain countries and not others. Why, for example human Soviet Union can not release Ukraine, and Germany can. Anyone know how this is set up, and if so, id the same restrictions are set up for the AI, as for human. Could AI SU release Ukraine if it was instructed to in the AI parameters?

Well, in the end I loaded as Italy and Nat.Spain and manually annexed, but it seems strange that the AI didnt do it by itself and me being able to do it manually without a problem indicates that there is some kind of AI problem.

Playing "unmoded" 1.3b here with just some added IC/res for the AIs in the diff-file (which should not affect the AI behaviour I think).

@son of liberty: Are you playing Allies or Axis ? Since I play Axis maybe there is something wrong there.

In Victoria, it looks like this:

 		command = { type = flagname  which = "_bwr" }

The flag name in the gfx/map/shield's name is "GER_bwr, and the tag is not included in the name. Could something like this be added to HoI2?

In the scenario file, the code added to the file would be:

Or at least I think so, but I would love to see it added, and it's already in Victoria. :)

When you loaded up as the AI - did they have the money needed to annex or did you first have to use F12 to get money to do it?

The spy system was changed because the AI was handicapped with it.

It is also way to late for us to change anything that is EXE related.

They had the money, too, I just loaded, clicked annex, saved, left. Both times, so I still believe this to be an AI problem.

I have loaded the game as ENG and the convoys left are about 70. The issue I found is that the British troops oversea are fully supplied.

One more thing to report: I have created some puppet but the Denmark and Norway were created without any tech team.

But I am still a little confused about why only some countries are releasable by certain countries and not others. Why, for example human Soviet Union can not release Ukraine, and Germany can. Anyone know how this is set up, and if so, id the same restrictions are set up for the AI, as for human. Could AI SU release Ukraine if it was instructed to in the AI parameters?

Yes, but it also extends to claims that you don't own at the start of the game. e.g. Nat. China can't release the warlords after they are annexed. It all depends on the cores/claims/nationalprovinces.
