I love the new intelligence system, but I think there should be a way for you to focus on a particular nation. If I'm the USA and I want to increase my spy presence in the soviet union I should have an option to do so.

Unless there is an option and I've missed? It seems like now you just sort of randomly get more spies based on how much intelligence funding you are putting forth. It would be nice if you could increase intelligence funding for ONE nation.

Spies are abstracted, when increasing intelligence funding you are in effect increasing the funding of your intelligence agencies that uses the money on all sorts of intelligence gathering methods, like Sig. Int, more people to analyse incoming data, more people in the field and soforth.

Some post-modding AI thoughts...

There are a number of revolt nations (Iceland, for one) whose first AI file is dated 1945. This means none of these files will load if the nation is created prior to 1945, which is a particular problem for Lebanon and Syria when they normally pop up in 1940. I'd recommend re-dating all such countries' files to 1936.

I was pleased to find a brand-new AI file for India in the patch. If you all would be interested, I've got ready-for-1.3 AI files for the RSI, West Germany, and a few other prominent revolters. I'd be happy to pass them along to the team to use as it will. No charge, just thank me in the credits someplace.:D
Excellent suggestion you are indeed a true Bad ass :p

I had in mind that Ocha province could be reachable from mainland without TP.
Its not the case in v1.3?

Other thing : SOV in GC'36
Annexed and released FIN.

I do not see what FIN is teching.
I can see my other puppets and when Im loading FIN, they do research.

By the way, when I loaded FIN, they were teching Basic Infantry which is quite strange because when I annexed them I already had infantry '41 (tech rush) and this tech should have been transfered?

To not have the possibility to focus on particular countrys on your choise makes the intelligence system more or less worthless, so we'll hope they gonna fix this....
I want a system where you decide what effort your contry are gonna do.

Kepp rolling guys...

Okay consider this your last warning. No more discussion about changing the Spy system... Next comment of this nature by you will be reported to the authorities and appropriate action will be taken. - Corey

I strongly disagree. You still decide were your efforts go (by targeting countries with specific missions)

I think you have to see the spy system as intelligence gathering and counter intelligence. Then you fund extra activities at specific countries with missions like smear campaign and stealing of blueprints.

I hope the change stays as it is, it might need some tweaking but so far I have found it very good and a much more enjoyable part of the game than the micromanagement hell the old system was.

edit:
With everything country specific it could very easily be abused against the ai and in MP games.

That is all fine, but if I want more boots on the groung in japan than in cuba I should be able to choose that. Latin america is no threat to anybody, japan is a dangerous imperialistic nation with a military larger than the population of said latin american nations(hyperbole in use here).

Hmm. I am wavering on this issue. I think the point that one targets ones activities covers this point.

But I digress, what I mean to say is that it is the USA that is the dangerous imperial power, not Japan. Japan is a peace loving liberator of the people of Asia and the Pacific from European imperialism.

My main concern is still that causing disruptions in the minors is way too easy. I am still trying to figure out if these modifiers in the text files can be tweaked to create the effect where spying is not just a big free-for-all. I mean no offense by this, because the overall concept is grand, and a big improvement, but I am still working on it.

Who really wastes time on minors? My early missions are almost all geared towards getting japans belligerence up as quickly as possible. By the time I get to intelligence level 20, the war is on and my smear campaigns are in full swing. Next game I will try to fund partisans after smearing, or perhaps a coup after multiple smears. I only took mexico because thier constant spying was a major irritant. After they were gone, all smears stopped against me. I thought they were the culprits on that, but I was not sure. However the main reason I killed mexico was the at least 2 attempts at global manipulation that I knew about. That is CB in my book.

Point taken. But it sounds like you are not having too much trouble focussing on your target of choice.

how? this means you cant land from different directions and gives enourmous advantages to the defender!
Landing from different directions is gamey and a exploit which the AI dont use, now humans are restricted in the same way as AI.

Besides how many amphibious landings have you heard of that had troops landing from different directions

hans kongelige marine, His majesties royal navy.

This is more correct Norwegian royal navy symbol. Instead of the Norwegian flag. Am referring to a Navy tec. team for Norway.

Its not the largest issue her ;)

it was in the latest CDCP_v.1.0
This picture are already included so if you dont have this you have a bugged install.

There's an error in the alb_36.inc file:

SpyInfo = { country = "YUG" NumberOfSpies = 3 }

instead of

SpyInfo = { country = "ALB" NumberOfSpies = 3 }
Fixed

Molotov instead of Stalin as HoS? Arma 1.3

Hey there,

in my recent AAR (check sig) something strange happened during the game. Apparently, Stalin had been exchanged with Molotov in my game somewhere in between 1940 and 1942. I have no clue how, maybe you get something i am missing here.

First:
- no kill-minister-AI-action as been used
- I obviously didnt kill him myself, i didnt notice until 1944.
- no event kills Stalin and installs Molotiv in his place
- no BP has happened, infact SU is rockin GER.
- No hints of anything in the log
- no couping, sliders are completely maxed everywhere in their normal positions, besides hawk and the other one on the bottom (should not matter)

What am i missing here? The AI cannot reassign HoS's bar events, can they?

Cant reproduce this error, what country do you play, which scenario and what units are you trying to move and to where ?

Are you sure the ai didn't kill him with a spy mission? Mexico attempted to kill Air Marshall Spaatz(air force minister) in my usa game.

I disagree. Targeting a nation with specific missions is far different than increasing the underlying intelligence infrastructure AVAILABLE to execute those missions. Sure as the USA I can fund missions to increase partisan activity in the USSR, but I can't increase "how many spies" are in essence working in the USSR. I have to increase my funding overall and just hope that I get more spies in the nation that I want to run missions against. Running a mission just utilizes spy resources already in a nation, there is no way to specify that I want to increase the actual resources in a specific nation only.

This is especially relevant since the chance of a mission succeeding is dependent upon how advanced your intelligence network is in an nation.
