have the same problem, and don't know a solution, but its not just your computer

I also think more events would be much fun to play. It's so strange that UK and Portugal didn't return HongKong and Macao to China in 1997 and 1999 respectively. Mideast confilcts seem not having so much impact. I saw somewhere said events like Olympic games, world cups would be in the game, but i didn't see it at all. So I start to doubt my MDS version.

The merchant crash is because you're running it on a version other than 1.05. See the AGC forum for manual instructions about updating a 1.05 text.csv to later versions.

so.. do i need to "downgrade" my 1.07beta?

otherwise.. i might just reinstall EU2 for update to 1.05
