I am currently playing my first game, so I am afraid I might make some mistakes, although that is how experience is gained.
But I cannot figure out what I should do with my command points? Besides promoting generals to Field Marshals, but is there a point to that even?

on the other hand, I have a lot to spend my political power on, so I dont want to waste it. So far I have just used them on a couple of decisions to raid democratic things, and war propaganda. But would it be better to save the points on advisors? Do you have some tips on what is essential good to spend it on, and stuff to avoid?

I am playing as Italy by the way.
Thanks a lot.

command power - Use it for your general's abilities (requires WtT), or to boost air wings. Definitely do not underestimate the power of general abilities, I have won so many battles that I should have lost by any measure.

Political power - honestly there's so many things to spend it on, I would run into the character limit if I tried to list them all. Most importantly, you want to increase your stability and level up mobilization laws. Advisors, high command, design companies are all extremely important though.

It looks like you don't have Waking The Tiger, so you can use CP only for promoting generals and (during war) the Extra Ground Crews buff. Promoted generals have a stat penalty for 100 days, so if no war is on the horizon, it doesn't hurt to promote them as there are no other downsides. But it's also not a big issue if you let CP go to waste during peace if you have decent field marshals already.

As for PP, the only general thing I would add to KDEstroy's advice is delaying choices which don't give you an immediate benefit. While at peace, it is better to have 150 PP and no military high command than the reverse. Having PP saved up allows you to react to changing circumstances and you can still instantaneously pick an option when it becomes relevant. There are also some truly awful choices (for example Airborne Assault Expert or Compassionate Gentleman), so if you find yourself thinking that one option sounds orders of magnitudes worse than some of the others, you are likely right.
