Noob question, but what is the best way to do this? It is late '36, and my ships don't have much in the way of range. I have placed a Naval Base on Marcus Island, (?) but not sure the best way to go from here given the 1500 mile range that my fleets are limited to.

Am I better waiting until all of my ships have a 3000 mile range? It just seems impossible to do a "Pearl Harbour", but perhaps that is because I am still in '36?

Cheers

Well, the Pearl Harbor thing is handled via event, you don't have to actually sail ships out there and order them to bomb Pearl Harbor.

As far as range, yeah, wait until the '38 and especially '41 models are researched and you should be fine. The 1500 km range thing is a result of the early cruisers and destroyers Japan gets in 1936.

Im invading atm ]

From 1942 onwards I had grabbed pearl harbour and also a few of the islands in the chain off alaska. I split my Naval forces into 3500+ range for usa work and used the older stuff in the indian ocean.

I also captured the panama canal and from there took bermuda.

I landed with massive forces on the West coast initially at San fransisco, but quickly expanding.

As forces started to move from the East coast, I launched my secondary invasions, which were designed nothign more than to break up american reinforcments as long as possible.

Im hoping to reach and hold a line at the rocky mountains..from there hold them and keep on raiding the east coast...until I have built up a sufficient Strategic bomber arm to mash the Easyt coast...allowing my forces based in the West of the US to once again go on the offensive.

Probably not textbook, but going ok so far....but, the usa far outnumbers me, so my lines might collapse as moer and more forces arrive at the my invading lines. time will tell.

Island hop. Put all your fleet at Kwanjelin (sp) and then iirc, you should be able to sail them to Hawaii. Capture Hawaii, rebase your ships, then capture the province you need to sail through the Panama Canal and roll on in to America's industrial heartland via NYC or Atlantic City. Have your forces blast through to Chicago and you've successfully taken away much of America's industrial power.

Start by forming a fleet consisting of ships with greater range, like 2000 or 2500 km. You should still have a large enough force to take Pearl and from there launch an invasion of San Diego. 36' is perhaps a bit too early, I prefer to attack in 37' or early 38' when I've had sufficient time to build up the IJA.

i would wait for a little while longer before invading USA 36 seems way too early. Here is what i did [and it worked very well]

1. Put everything you have into crushing China as soon as you can.
2. Build subs [44' level ones as soon as possible]
3.Island hop to Pearl harbour
4. Use it as a staging ground for an invasion of Mexico.
5.Use Mexico to surge north and conquer the US.

This is and old method which ive tried a couple of times and it always works.

Start from 36.

1 Build inf and transport
2. Dow netherlands and demand all of Indonesia and Curaco in the Caribiean
3. Build a port in Curaco
4. Rebase all of your ships and transport all the inf you built to this base
5. Dow Usa and land in Florida
6. If you do this about 1940, Usa has very few ground units and it will be a piece of cake to conquer all of their mainland.

Im doing it a more 'realistic' way.

I made landfall in mainland USA in 1944, its proving VERY hard, but I control the East coast and I have (just) control over the main west coast cities).

My units in the south are starting to get overun.

Its a very close thing this. Im hoping that the supply situation for the USA wil lstart to tell though (and manpower)
