Best way to give away regions?

Hey guys

I was wondering, what is the best way to give whole duchies to other rulers?

The situation:

Playing as Denmark
Won Aragon in a Crusade, divided it under family members and made my brother King, making it independant
A few years later my son inherits the duchy of Valencia by luck or election, don't remember, isn't the point.
My son was my heir, so when he came to the throne, Valencia became part of Denmark.

This is *not* something I want! I want my Dynasty to rule in Aragon on their own.
I thought to myself, I will load the game as Aragon and declare war for the Duchy, but I can't. He can only declare for 1 region at a time.

Is there a way to fix this mess without war? At this point I don't even care if it is console command or editing the save game, or even a mod that allows a ruler to give land to ANY dynasty member.

Looking forward to ideas.

Well, you can give land to the Pope(I actually gave him all of Iberia on my Frisia file just for fun) and gain some easy piety or you could give the land to one of the Holy Orders though they always tend to get wiped out after a few years.

usually they get wiped out, but during a recent Jerusalem game I gave Andalusia (which I won in a crusade) to the Knights Templar and was surprised to look back in Iberia years later and see that they successfully expanded into Mauretania, and for some reason did not form the kingdom (propably they can't, but it would've been glorious if they could)

you can't if you're a king. if you're an emperor, you can ONLY if it's his de jure territory in the first place (which it is in this case)
that's basically it. the game doesn't recognize giving titles to independent rulers who aren't the pope or military orders (maybe they'll add it in a future patch/DLC? :laugh

Something like the EU3 selling of land, to other rulers? There's an event where your vassals offer to buy your land... maybe it can be modded to be a decision to offer to buy land from someone who holds your de jure land, and it should be expensive, and have a malus -3 or -4 "it's MY land now" and an indeterminate number of pluses for "you could crush me to get it"

I'm sure you can edit titles/lands in the savegame file.

Edit: open the savegame, search for c_countyname and d_duchyname there should be a line holder= and enter the charid here.

from my save. I guess it is enough to just change the number after holder= to the id of the king of aragon.

mods do this (or at least CK2+ does)
while still in paper it's implausible since an oath of homage and thus vassalization means the liege is bound to protect the vassal. more realistically likely though, a sovereign wouldn't accept the vassalage of a duke in a far-flung corner away from his realm (such as an iberian duke recognizing a far-away scandinavian king instead of a nearby and de jure iberian king)

still, paradox will need to slightly redo the inheritance mechanism in this case (in the same way they also really need to rework random holy wars like a holy roman empire enclave in finland and another in mauretania)
