With the new expansion and the possibility to use NFs to convert your people to a certain ideology, i thought it would be possible to become fascist with out purposely losing wars or getting revanchism

That appears to not be the case

20 years of 7 NFs in my most populated provinces and my population in still at only 1% fascist while the upper house is barely 10%

so my question is:

Is there a new better way to pick whatever government you want, or am do I have to stick with the gamey tactic of raking up militancy?

People won't turn to Facism until Socialism and Liberalism have failed them, or have appeared to fail them. It's an ideology created from failure.

Ironically it is the only feasible political system that has yet to fail in Europe on its own

one could argue that the infamy the over-aggressive (by nature) policies of fascist states that caused them to be discredited initially (world war 2) is actually the fatal problem of fascism.

But that is for the history forum ;)

Revanchism.

That is the only way to turn your pops fascist in vanilla.
Unfortunatly, to increase revanchism, you need some of your core provinces owned by other countries. ;)

I smell an argument... but I'd rather just let it go. Well, I got fascists elected in my Austria HM's Government game (not in AHD, that's true), you simply have to make your people as jingoistic as it gets, and have a common goal with all their other policies too (most likely residency, state capitalism, protectionism, moralism, I hope I didn't missed any).

In the CleanUp event file there are all the ways countries change governments, there's also a Fascism&Socialism file where there's an event that makes your country a Fascist Dictatorship, there are events that grant/revoke certain political reforms so you can engineer the transition...

During a game as Persia (pre-AHD) I released a bunch of their regions as satellites for a while, since I was sick of independence revolts, only to annex them later on when they tried to break those bonds with me. It was then I noticed a huge part of the pops in those regions had gone fascist in the meantime.

Of course, that doesn't help you if you have no nations to release, plus it's not a particularly pretty way to encourage fascism.
