Quick question; What combination of countries in what scenario are going to be best for a three/four hour two person multiplayer game. Obviously the game wouldn't have to reach 1812, but it would be best if the countries had the time/option of fighting each other at times and working together at other times (ie Naples and Sweden would be too far apart to interact that much). Both of us are first time multiplayers, but fairly good at single player. Thanks in advance,

Thekinslayer

If you want war, go in GC and play as England and France. But if you want team work you may start in age of revolutions as Austria and Prussia (defeating Russia) or France and Austria.

I do not recommend France and England in 1419. According to my (our, Hungarian Clan) experinence a fair english player kills France in no time.

I dont believe its really possible to play anything but a very short truly competitive 2player game....as soon one player gets on top he will just stomp the other....ofcause if u play tibet vs zapotec that will take a while.....

I have found that two players is not enough for a MP game. SP is actually preferable to a 2 player game. In a 2 player game, either the two players cooperate and just systematically kill off the computer. This is pretty cheesy and becomes boring really fast. Or they just constantly war with each other. This can be fun for a while but also gets boring longterm and is also pretty cheesy. The best of MP is the complex diplomatic interplay between nations, the overlapping of interests, the intrigue, etc. This is all missing from a 2 player game.
