What would be the best mod pack for AoD? I used to play HoI with DAIM-SMEP-GIP pack, I would like something similar.

Judging by available mods for AoD, E3-SMEP-Tripartite pack combo looks the best.

Comparing to HoI I get new map, but I don't get improved AI and great AI builds of DAIM (though I'm not if DAIM would be even needed for AoD, I've never played it so far). From what I remember from reading forums AoD team improved AI but did they alter AI builds? I really hate HoI vanilla builds, so is there something similar to DAIM for AoD if they left HoI builds in game?

And, most importartantly, how would my combo work together? Tripartite pack and SMEM must work well together, but I'm not sure about E3 and SMEP. Though I see E3 was modified for vanilly AoD events, so maybe SMEP would also work fine.

Opinions, help?

It depends what you would like to play. For hard games as axis, I recommend the Third Reich mod, it has great AI (DAIM+other improvements for AI), but does not have new map.
CORE is probably the most worked-on and best tested, with lots of changed things, it's definitely worth to give it a try and see if it suits you.
E3 and SMEP exists for AoD, and there is a conversion of SMEP to the E3 map also, so if you liked SMEP for HOI, you can try it on the E3 map as well.
Usually with the E3 map you can't use non-adapted mods as the province ids are changed at a lot of places (which has an effect on nearly everything in the game: events, AI).

there is a thread about SMEP+E3 map compilation in modifications subforum. You may want to look at it.

Cold War Extensions for AOD is also developing quite well. 0.19 CWE should be available in a few days & covers 1919-2024. 1936-1970s are currently well covered with continued expansion as we speak.

icehawk, How CWE covers 1919-1936 era ? does it just add tech tree or is it possible to start the game from 1919. Are there events for cold war era to make it playable ?

icehawk, How CWE covers 1919-1936 era ? does it just add tech tree or is it possible to start the game from 1919. Are there events for cold war era to make it playable ?

Currently 1919 mod is an alpha build so wait a few days for 0.19 CWE :) Were planning a Victors Peace 1919-1936 scenario that covers the standard post WWI mayhem & an alternate Bitter Peace 1919 scenario that follows a hypothetical German marginal victory in 1918. :) Russian civil war & Chinese warlord era will be included!

Current 0.18 also contains the famous Hoi2 Arma "Fatherland" mod - hypothetical German WWII victory.

Interwar mini-mod (1919-1936) is an alternate & separate modification within CWE, with its own tech tree & events. However savegames can be transferred to the 1936 grand campaign with some modding. 1936-2024 grand campaign in 0.18 (current build) has 80% tech tree & events up to around 1970. 0.19 will have a full complete tech tree & more & much more events including disasters (hurricanes, earthquakes & such). CWE already contains realistic resource growth events (Likely the only modern mod to do so!) of oil/gas/coal/metal/rare field discoveries of the past 100 years, excellent model tree & the 0.19 tech tree will probably be the most realistic tree of Any Ive seen for Hoi2/AoD to date :D

Development is fast & very active. Look for 1.06 compatible next release soon ;)

The Tripartite Pack for AoD only changes graphics and audio files, so it can be used in conjunction with any other mod around (SMEP, Third Reich mod etc.).

However, please take note that there may be some little inconsistencies if you add the TP mod to another mod I've not tested its compatibility for. An example that comes to mind is that the Third Reich mod uses a slightly different Auxiliary.bmp file (the one which contais the brigades' little icons) than vanilla AoD. So, I'd have to make a revised version of this file to make my TP mod fully compatible with Gringoesteban's one.

If anyone would be interested in having the Tripartite Pack made compatible with other mods around there, please write so here. I can't promise I'll fulfill all requests but I'll try to do my best. :)
