Just started a new 1066 HRE game as Heinrich Salian and got to learn organizer as 17 year old in the first war against Mecklenburg.
Meanwhile he's 35 and stressed, due to me always making him switch from leading in Poland to Iberia in a few days- But I was fast enough to protect Sicily from the Fatimids with my expansion.

As Emperor (No matter if east or west) Organizer is the ultimative fighter trait. If you are none yourself, invite one to your court and take the left flank yourself.

On Lower Levels the actual combat traits get more interesting, as very often it will be small scale wars and more even battles, and thus luck or the better commander deciding the war.
I just saw an expressive demonstration of unyielding when I appointed the Duke of Holland to hold the siege somewhere in Estonia (1000 men, 500 cavalry retinue unit amongst it) against the 1900-men-tribe stack (9th holy war against Pagans so they ganged up on me with all they had left) until support from Flanders was shipped in.
Needless to say, he did not only hold out for some time, he actually beat the Pagan army back- and the battle ticker showed me that this happened simply due to his center's morale being more stable then any other flanks on the battlefield, allowing him to hunt down 1000 fleeing tribesmen with the leftover 300ish cavalry retinue unit.
