I did a global advanced search, nothing was found save this thread.

Please link.

If you know how to edit the save game you can use

UPDATE player_techs SET state=6 WHERE player_id = 1

to flag all techs for the player as researched, not sure if there are techs in the table that should be unresearchable. At least it didn't crash my game and i had the full tree researched.

I have reason to believe that researching the drive techs that don't belong to your (Ex: if I am Liir and I enable Node drive), it causes a crash; or at least it did in one of the older builds.

The player_techs table in the save doesn't seem to include any illegal techs, i can only see the node techs for player2, the SolForce AI. So unless you add more lines, the ones that are in the save games seem to be save.

The main problem with this query is that it doesn't set strat_modifiers entries for tech benefits of things that you've marked researched. That means while you technically have arcologies researched, you're not getting the benefits of it. Same with any other tech that modifies your global stats like production boosting techs and such.

Better to use something like this:

Code:
UPDATE player_techs
SET state=3, feasibility=1, player_feasibility=0.99, research_cost=1
WHERE player_id=1;

UPDATE player_tech_branches
SET feasibility=1, research_cost=1
WHERE player_id=1;

That will set all your techs researchable, with 99% feasibility, and a research cost of 1. So basically you can research anything in one turn, more or less. And no need to do feasibility studies on anything. And if you do it in game then you actually get the benefits :D

I never had the tech unlocker when I crashed.

And the random disable assets file doesn't disable all the randoms, Proteans and Morrigi Relics still occur. And their encounters were WHAT kept my game going because if I got the screen of combat I knew I wouldn't crash. It was when I DIDN'T that I usually crashed.

I even modified the asset file to be UNABLE to give randoms for 2000 turns and they still did.

So no.

Well, I went beyond disabling them in the data files and deleted what was still in the save file while I was at it :D

Setting random turn delay won't affect relics and monitors and proteans because they're placed in systems at game start. It only affects when randoms start to hit your systems, and when things like Specters and VNs and Swarmers start to move around the galaxy.

I honestly don't know which is better, I've spent a lot of time looking at them. Feasibly, the sides of the Tarkan and Hiver rip apart any medium to dreadnought craft with all those medium turrets and the focal point. For heavier dreadnought attack the Tarkan and Zuul seem to be the best for frontal assaults due to the heavy turret rotation angles. The Hiver Carrier really seems to have a lot of basic battleriders but I think we can agree the Liir Leviathan and its 3 DN's or even its battlecruisers are probably going to win any large deployment battles especially from the sheer amount of vectors you'd be attacked by.

So really it seems the Liir Leviathan when including its battleships or battlecruisers is strangely the most powerful.

If we just go by battle Leviathans, I really think it's the Hiver and Tarkan ones.

---

Although, some of the Lev's have 3 times the amount of structural rating that other leviathans do.

I need to actually see these drones and battleriders on a ship to make the distinction in truth.

We also need to know how long it takes a dreadnought to damage a Leviathan, for all we know these things could die in seconds from concentrated firepower, lol.

take a look at weapon damage profiles; Leviathan resistance is going to create a durable ship even before you start to account for armour techs.

based on the pre-release discussions, and the game's carrier age philosophy, i think battleriders, drones and so forth are going to be more important. attacking a system can involve multiple angles of attack, multiple positions of deployment and be directed at multiple targets; battleriders allow you to respond to these with force projection, using them as distractionary tactics (dispatch your fleet to deal with mine and my battleriders will hit the planet on the other side of the system), striking supply ships at long range, that kind of thing.

I was always more the type to want to destroy the opposing fleet entirely and then attack the planet from a cushy position, unless I brought a long a siege driver to just make it all hell for people.

But the more I think of it, the more I think Liir and Morrigi would use biological weapons more than a siege driver.

---

Yes, but imagine 8 Gravitons on one point... it seems that would rupture all the armor from my mathematics.

---

To me, Drones are just a way of forcing an enemy to deal with rapidly moving phasers from multiple locations and thus dedicating ships to point defense (wish drones had shields or avoidance factors) and less to combat. Battle Riders while entirely ugly for almost all cases, are a way of striking harder and forcing to focus on medium weapons to deal with those.

I don't view them as ways to sacrifice them while they attack a planet, I'm... more a slow expansion but hardened defense player.
