Just an interesting question - I have not had the time to test out all of the leviathans and tbh, I am not sure I should as the next patch could destroy any hours I spend in a save game.

Which race do you think has the best pure combat leviathan?

Which race has the best carrier leviathan? (This one may take some time as battle riders are not fully functional.)

Oh, and not all the turrets appear to be working for all of the ships.

this will be very difficult to tell for sure, since so much of big ships is things like subtleties of turrret placement, placement of strong firing arcs, that kind of thing.

The Liir-Zuul combat LV, aka The Black.

He has over twice as much armour as the next best LV, along with 6x the structural HP. And he's pretty fast too.

OP Spacewhale needs a nerf-bat.

For the actual ship LVs, probably the Hiver standard one; heaviest armour, carries 12 BRs, decently fast.

If I remember correctly the devs said these giant spacewhales perma die. And that the Black was the only Liir unit like that. So maybe that's why he is so strong hp wise is that you only get one per game.

someone said the Black's appearance is linked to the appearance of a Suul'ka, so he's intended as a counter for the evil ones...

After playing around with it, I find the human one kind of underwhelming. Same with the Morrigi one - especially for the amount of money. There goes the Morrigi end game domination then.

Question is, is your money better spent on getting more DNs or an LV, with a massive prototype cost?

The prototype cost factor is out of whack for LV's. I get it for something mass produced like a CR, or even a DN, but for LVs which are probably pretty individual the base cost should be higher with the prototype multiplier lower. So say 30mil base cost and 45mil prototype, vs 15mil base cost and 75mil prototype.

The human LV is crazy fast, no idea if thats intentional. It outpaces CRs easily.

The Morrigi Carrier LV is also pretty scary, with 25 drones and 48 battleriders. Thats over 50% more power projection than the next best.

Battlerider works for me, but you have to control them one by one which is REALLY annoying.

sorry, that was addressed to crazyelf based on his assessment. I have a suspicion that force projection is a big part of this game, and I think a lack of battleriders would therefore hinder an assessment of a Leviathan, which are likely intended to be the centerpiece of a carrier group, not high-grade combat ships as DNs were in SOTS 1.

I never got drones to work. Or perhaps I just don't understand HOW they work.

Liir Battleship Carrier LV will auto-win everything by deploying a 3 DN rider squadron (Plus DE riders from up to 6 Kingfisher modules).

Those DN riders are sick too... You can't actually assign them to a carrier as riders yet, but they're in the game. Look for a War mission section at the bottom of the DN mission section list on the designer. Battle Bridge/War/AM Streak Battleship has 66 turrets. 4 tri-barelled heavy turrets (So 12 pulsed graviton beams, or whatever), plus a good 6 or 7 regular heavy guns, a few cutting beam mounts, a slew of mediums and a few lights. Top speed in combat is 250, faster than Morrigi DE riders.

A Liir fleet with two Battleship Carriers deploying 6 of those things and something like 24 (I'm assuming you get 2 battle riders per Kingfisher module, but they don't work yet, so who knows) DE riders to back them up? Yeah, have fun with that.

The important thing to remember about Leviathan's is the fact that your fleet size is limited. If you had something like SOTS1 where you could have a few hundred Destroyers and Cruisers in a fleet and could overwhelm someone on numbers alone, no problem. In SOTS2 I would expect, assuming proper balancing, that between two full CP fleets of relatively similar technology, the Leviathan will easily tip the balance in that fight.

Click the button that looks like a single chevron on that system's menu. It brings up the rider manager (The button is by the fleet manager button and such).

Then click the carrier ship in your fleet list (You'll need to expand the fleet, then expand that ship type as well first) and then drag riders from the right hand side of the screen into the slots that appear.
