Beware, it seems only people who absolutely love Victoria bother to post in this thread. However, Victoria is a game which one generally tends to love or hate, there is little middle ground. People who hate it don't bother to write in this thread like I said, so you won't see the bad side of it. 
However, considering Vicky + Rev should be rather cheap by now you may as well try it. I only have the original and I didn't play it so much because the micromanagement wore me down (have fun building railroads in all your provinces as Russia). But maybe that's improved in Revolutions like some here say, so try to find more recent information.
