initially? id say those who have least enemies.. because they will not close your future options... yet, you cannot be friend with everybody... and once you become hated, those factions wont give you contracts anymore which greatly reduces amount of missions per system... i think devs should increase number of contracts up a bit... current value is too low.

This is why it's important later on to keep tabs on the faction presence on each system later on via the starmap.

Anyway, in career mode, pirates are a very tempting faction to keep pleased. While you probably don't want to full on ally with them as this will make you the sworn enemy of EVERYONE, you can gain access to black markets very early, and they have a presence in a large number of systems.

Started a new career cuz I sprinted toward a Steiner alliance (hoping that Davion/federated suns would be ok with that since they aren't an enemy) but..... finding Steiner jobs is beyond ridiculously difficult to accomplish lol (maybe future expansions will alleviate this)

New career I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, keeping the Pirates happier so i got cheaper earlier access to black markets.

I was originally gonna say Federated Suns cuz then that leaves you friendly with Steiner and what not... but ymmv

Davion/Steiner/Canopus also work. But FWL gives far more jobs than Steiner, so i see FS/FWL/MC as the optimal alliance "combo".
Kurita/Liao is a close second, given how much of the map is Liao space, but their alliance mission are tougher.

I´d say FWL, Fedsuns or the Magistracy. Why? Because one can ally with the three at the same time :)

I agree.

Allying with the Federated Suns, the Free world League and the Magicstracy of Canopus at the same time (allowed by their corresponding feelings among each others) will provide you with 2 special, high-tier, end-game Faction Flashpoints out of the 5 available (i.e. the Davion and Marik ones), access to the corresponding factions' Quartermaster's Shops (surely the Davion & Marik ones, the Centrella's too - if they have them), as well as full contracts' and shops' access in as much as 28 allied star systems, to which you may add the 24 Arano-controlled and the 36 independent systems, while bestowing upon yourself the enmity of the Taurans, Liaos, Kuritas and Steiners - only the first two of whom do actually control any star system in the Aurigan Reach (even though, admittedly, they manage to control near almost half of it, between the both of them).
