Congratulations
@Bullfilter!
Many thanks Loup99.
Time to pass on the baton. I'm going to give it to an authAAR who is a
true writer. I wanted to pass on a (different) award to him back in May, but was beaten to the draw by someone else (who gave him this award, come to think of it) and thought I'd better avoid the informal "too many awards at once" rule! But now I have the opportunity again, and his work has shone even more brightly in the months since, including within the last week.
So I wish to pass on the Character WritAAR of the Week to the multi-award-winning
@jerseygiants88 for his amazing
Italian Ambitions: A Florence AAR.
His writing and AAR presentation are sumptuous and full of detailed character essays. He has told us recently on his AAR that he will be going on an overseas deployment soon and I see from his profile he is an 'infantryman', so if you're still watching and will either be deployed or simply won't have time to search out a successor for next week, we will all understand, and I wouldn't want this to distract you from whatever it is you need to get squared away before you do. If so, I'd propose we just do a forum selection when it comes time next week.
And to
jerseygiants88, from an old (and I do mean old) soldier to a younger one, I wish you good luck and Godspeed. For anyone who hasn't read his AAR yet, you have some time to browse it through before his promised return to continue his epic. It's worth taking the time.
I also thought I'd better stray from my 'home ground' of HoI3, given the award has been there for a few weeks (eg. I was preceded by @roverS3, who has recently added another excellent character you should check out). Italian Ambitions (which is EUIV) is one of the few non-HoI3 AARs I follow closely - that and TheButterflyComposer for his The Empire of Albion (recently awarded here) and one or two others.
I will also put a plug in for another good friend and award winning authAAR markkur for his brand new “U-boats for Uruguay” a short TFH farce. The new lead character El Gato bears watching, as does an eccentric Cabinet who I am sure will develop some pretty strange but entertaining character traits as the AAR develops. I light and amusing read so far, from a proven performer. I'd be surprised if we don't see him awarded in the thread in the coming weeks.
Guderian1992 is also off to a good start with Horsing Around the Pacific: A (Mostly) Cavalry Based Japan AAR, with some strange characters (amusing, also grisly) developing there.
And the much awarded El Pip for Inevitable Defeat - Slovakia '44: the crazy parade of characters there, led by the Dynamic Duo of Tiso and Tuka, is a legend unto itself.
Many other great HoI3 AARs (quite a few new ones right now) going around that I'm watching at the moment, but they are more gameplay based so (while they are excellent) I won't go into detail here, keeping the shout-outs to character-based AARs. I just encourage those from the 'newer' games to check out the HoI3 thread every so often: some good reading there and the history behind the games is always reasonably easy to follow, even if you don't play ithe game.
With that, a fond farewell from me and congratulations to jerseygiants88.
