I prefer just strategically redeploying infantry in the path of the enemy in these situations. They move 20kph in level 10 infra and 10kph in level 5 which means they are absurdly fast in most of the coastlines worth defending. If the enemy tries to go around infantry is redeployed into the adjacent province they are moving to in a matter off hours.

I try to avoid SR-ing short distances if possible, because it invokes the attack delay.

Imho it isn't a problem at all as long as your just defending since units join a defensive fight instantly anyways and Attack Delay will be gone by the time the fight is over (no matter the outcome). SR-ing tanks on the other hand should be avoided at all costs since they always "forget" to bring their fuel.

I'm trying to come up with a good division build for a fast blitzkrieg-style mechanized infantry, to fan out behind enemy lines with the panzers after the tanks have broken through.

So far I could do MOT + MOT + SPART + SPART or MOT + MOT + TD + TD or MOT + MOT + TD + SPART, but I don't know which would be best. I'm leaning toward the SPARTs because I'll have my panzers to deal with enemy tanks, but that would also mean no CA bonus so I'm not sure. Oh and the MOTs are going to be upgraded to MECH as soon as it becomes available

Out of those three, only the MOTx2/TDx2 gets the CA bonus. When you consider that the bonus might amount to more than +45% (given the proper Doctrine, and Panzer Leaders at each command level from Division to Army), the CA bonus more than makes up for the lower stats of the unit, especially since it applies to ALL the unit's stats (not just the offensive stats).

Later on, when MEC has been researched, I like to re-form my Light Armor and Motorized Divisions as L-ARMx1/MECx2/(plus either AC or SP-R-ART). That gives them a lot of combat power and a speed of around 11.

As for armor, I used LARM for quite a while, but now tend more towards ARM and HARM usage.

An early combined arms all-around armor brigade consists of ARM/ARM/MOT, later I swap in SP-ART (ARM/ARM/SP-ART) and even later: MECH (ARM/ARM/MECH/MECH).

Another setup I use is ARM/ARM/ENG/ENG. While this division lacks firepower, it has great all-terrain abilities on attack and defence and is even able to attack sucessfully over rivers, something that can really ruin your opponent's day in MP.

HARM/HARM/HARM/HARM are heavy breakthrough and anti-armor divisions, but I usually have no more than 2-4 of these around. At rare occasions I also use them as heavy defence forces for strategic points, for example Gibraltar, Malta and alike. Any seaborne assault against them practically futile, so as long as I can keep my supply lines intact, the enemy won't get an island where these beasts are located. Sometimes I use smaller stacks of HARM/HARM, mostly for beach defence or when a frontline is too large to cover by a single HARM division.

LARM/LARM/AC/AC or LARM/LARM/MECH/MECH are nice fast divisions, although LARM/AC definitelylacks too much firepower for my taste.

However, the thing I REALLY like is the MOT/TD combo. It is incredible cheap to build and support, fast enough, gives practical for MECH and provides adequate combat stats with low research investment.
I usually use MOT/TD as reserve and support units (for example for securing France). MOT/MOT/TD/TD is a great armor substitution - and with advanced techs (iirc LARM 1940), you can even use MOT/MOT/TD divisions with CA bonus.

As Emu said: MOT/TD is a GREAT (if not exploitive) combination!
