i've been looking for some mods for a while now, but i can't find one with a good AI AND one that don't mess up with the game too much.

The best all-around mod I found was TRP. The AI, events are excellent, the best i found, but... the combat is too slow, overall is too defensive (I defended the soviet borders for 1 year with only unbrigaded infantry and practically no strategy at all), bombers, armor, mechanized, motorized are underpowered. The "added stuff" on the mod was excellent, but the "changed stuff" no.

DAIM improved the vanilla AI a lot too, but i can still win easily with any major power without much effort on normal/furious. The AI focus more on land divisions, but they don't use airpower effectively, and act really stupid sometimes, like stopping a large scale invasion for no particular reason.

Is there any other mod that changes the AI heavily, add events, units, techs, or WHATEVER, but don't change the mechanics of the game???

I certainly hope not...

Vanilla's AI and game mechanics have sacrified historical accuracy for gameplay. So in all tweaking game mechanics is a good thing IMHO.

As to AI itself TRP is considered to be the best in terms of AI. We'll be moving towards a TRP-style AI in the upcoming release of CORE. I do recall others already support a TRP-style AI (Confederate Armageddon comes to mind, for one).

DAIM is the best for what you're looking for. No AI will be capable of defeating a competent human player as a major power unless you self-limit.

I think it is possible to apply EWW2's AI to vanilla. There, if you dare to leave normandy inguarded, some day 40 divisions charge there.

my problem is not the tweaking. i also think that the game mechanics has some flaws. But... in my opinion, they changed a lot of things that WORKED.

but nevermind, I'm not here to criticise the mod. I was just looking for a mod with an improved AI and one that don't mess up with some things that work fine.

I don't really NEED to play vanilla. I'll try this mod today.
What i was looking was a mod with an improved AI. If they add new tech trees, units, limit manpower, etc. I really don't care, i can adapt myself. TRP was perfect when I was playing in peacetime, but in combat, I thought it was just too unrealistic. They changed too many things, and in the end the game became too defensive.

well EWW2 pretty much leaves the tech tree unchanged, so you should be fine on that end.

also in my campaigns so far with it, i've definately noticed the AI using airpower much more effectively than in vanilla, I havent played TRP though

though I suspect that it "changes too much of the mechanics" for you, afterall that's why people make mods, it to change what they dont like about vanilla
