Not sure if I bug report this. Started a siege, brought some full stacks to deal with an aggressive new city by Cinren, and the turn the walls fall my vassal walks in with a two stack(One hero, one T1.) It causes me to be severely undermanned for the fight compared to what I brought.

I can untick my second army to save them from this folly, but my primary army is stuck supporting the brave idiots. I can retreat, but then he just attacks again and I'm stuck here. I can probably manual battle this in a bloody affair, but auto-battle shows a complete wipe while barely scratching Cinren's units. (Edit: by he, I mean the vassal)

This is exactly why we need to be able to select between more armies (not to bring more armies into battle mind you, but to have more reinforcement options available). Sometimes the strongest stack power-wise isn't the most useful stack for that battle (and in this case I'm not even sure that is true -- Does your Vassal's 2-stack have higher army power than one of yours?)

I think the hero that started sieging the walls inherits the "command position" and that the hero who started the assault is locked into a spot. Which is why I have a say over retreating even when the vassal attacks. Which would make this unintentional but probably WAD. I just wish they would listen when I tell them to retreat. -.-

Vassal: "Attaaack!"

Me: "We don't have enough troops I'm pulling back."

moments later after regrouping... Vassal: "Chaaaarge!"

Me: *sigh*

Certainly not. My Godir and her T2 group are left out (6 stack).

Edit: She's out of range from where the vassal attacked, but the 5 stack still has more power than the 2.

Ooh the Vassal is repeatedly attacking, I see. That makes sense then. I misunderstood your OP to mean that if you retreat, the enemy AI then attacks and you're back in the same position (but can't retreat because you're now defending).

I suppose one terrible solution might be to engage in the battle and then retreat your units leaving your Vassal's units to die, then attack with your additional stack right afterward. Although since it's a siege that might have additional repercussions outside of losing your movement points (and possible morale penalty).

that is indeed a problem that needs fixing ASAP.
it can totally ruin a fight.
we should see all available armies so we can choose which participate.
and also choose to not participate when an ally is attacking nearby us.

Tested it and results are not promising. When you lose the battle all retreated units die or rout, and the chance of death is not small, nor does it seem to be related to health/manual order to retreat. On a positive note, the walls stay sieged down. When I attack with the remaining preserved forces there is no siege timer and it's an auto-combat win.
