Yeesh, I sure was one of those (less than) 100 people. A possible explanation might be that no Belgian games magazine (PC Gameplay, etc.) mentioned anything about EUII, as far as I can remember. The Telenet games site (games.telenet.be, quite popular) did mention something about Hearts of Iron, I remember.

Ah well, I'll just order it from amazon.co.uk, just like I did with HoI...

But anyways, couldn't you find a publisher which serves both the Netherlands & Belgium? I suppose you sold a bit more copies of EU2 in the Netherlands.

And I still don't understand why Koch UK doesn't publish in the Lowlands...

EU II had a too page review in PC Gameplay. Still have it lying around I think. And a really good review too IIRC. Starting 80's. They loved the complexity

but that is low because in the schop where I bought it hat several copies (magastore old HVH) The town is only 31000 people
I was looking for a another game when it was there

Wow. I am the proud owner of one of the less than 100 shop-sold EU2 copies in Belgium! A big fortune I found it easy back then. Otherwise I would never have bought it online, have come to this forum and planned to buy other Paradox games.

well I'm also very proud to have ordered it online because I was dying to get that game because the forecasted release in the Benelux was toolate.

I'm also convinced that these games are reviewed in the wrong way by game magazines.

The scoring mechanism is bogus, the emphasis is always graphics - hell, why are we buying this fast computer for ??? The gameplay isn't assessed right - steep learning curve.

It's always the same = the learning curve is too steep - the graphics are outdated.

There's no reference window with earlier games. The improvements are not highlighted.

No I really think they handle these games like stephmothers!

I think the late release date combined with the poor game review magazines is killing sales in smaller countries.

To give the facts = HOI was previewed but not reviewed. EU2 was the last game reviewed in Belgium game magazines.

Surprising numbers for belgian sales of EU II... I for one got the games and had 3 friends buy it ( I know of 4 other guys from the university history departement playing it but don't know if they play legal versions ). It would mean that 5% to 10% percent of all belgian EU II sales were done by students of brussels university... Really odd..

But now that EU II and HoI had a lot of mouth to ear advertising, you can be sure that any release would see much more sales here in Belgium !

I will try to get Victoria in the same manner as I got HoI :
get the Computercollectief in Amsterdam to import if for me from the US. That way I should have it around mid-December. Not exactly cheap, but who cares?

When shopping for HoI, I tried Dynabyte, but they said they didn't have it.

Computercollectief is the name of a software shop in Amsterdam. In fact, the oldest in Amsterdam. They've been around since 1979..

ok, this time I ordered it online. But for future games why not have a poll or a sum up of Flemisch buyers?

When the figure is fairly high, the computerwinkeltje has an idea how much of us kind roam these lands. And I guess we can take a train for Mechelen or Gent or ...

Another Dutch company that imports from the US can be found on www.dpluss.nl

Since they import in batches to keep the overhead cost down, they only import titles that they expect sell reasonably well. For example, they imported the US version of HoI, but don't import Legions, due to low demand. Victoria isn't yet among the soon to be expected titles, but who knows ...
