Good news: once spring break comes I will start working on the map - at the very least this will help me with the actual process of writing the TL over on the AH forum as a visual supplement.

I'll also start working on a much different timeline to be made into a mod.

I'll put the complete mini timeline on the AH forum. I've got a bunch of books for research, and will start by looking at the entirety of an alternate U.S. Civil War year by year, month by month, week by week, and day by day.

Ambitious, I know.

Do you mean Beneath the Crimson Banner or the yet to be named AH mod (that I may or may not make) involving an independent Confederacy?

It seems to me that people are genuinely psyched about the former mod proposal (Beneath the Crimson Banner). Correct?

That being said, you won't be disappointed.

It will be one hell of a mod, alright. ;)

I was referring originally to BCB but it also applies to your other one. Can't wait to see what the future holds in store ;)

Yes, that or the Central Bolívar Bloc. But since to my knowledge you aren't involved with neither Paramilita's nor Colombia, I just made an acronym for your mod :p

Thanks for clarifying that. :)

I can also reassure you that I'm not affiliated with any Colombian paramilitaries - LOL!

With Spring Break just around the corner I'll try to cook up a rudimentary in-game map.

I'll start with a rump Polish SSR and an enlarged USSR (Central Poland will look quite nice in-game as a bridge between the USSR and Soviet Germany)

I'm going to take it slow, though, especially as I don't have certain areas of the world fleshed out enough as to feel comfortable changing province owners for just any country.

However, I'll nonetheless be able to probably depict Soviet Germany and Soviet China to the best of my abilities.

Again, this mod is really just an offshoot of a much longer novella over on the Alternate History Forum. If the map soon to be uploaded comes off as incomplete, its because I'm still working out the kinks in the actual timeline.

As a treat I'll also try to put up a little timeline on the AH forum dedicated to chronicling an alternate American Civil War as another possible mod idea.

A lot of the alternate history in said mini scenario actually revolves around a genuine novel that I'm planning on my own initiative.

That is to say, I'll loosely take elements from my planned novel and turn it into a playable game (meaning that the novel and mod will be drastically different throughout and wholly separate from each other)

Lets just say that the AH timeline will feature an independent Confederacy stretching from Virginia to the so-called Arizona Territory (the New Mexico Territory having been taken over by Confederate forces during the war)

the South wins through a war of defense in both the Western and Eastern Theaters, primarily by digging in at Tennessee proper and along the Rappahannock respectively.

Basically the North ousts Lincoln from office come 1864, resulting in peace and consequently the recognition of the C.S.A as an independent country.

Cuba will still be a Confederate territory however, of course.

I think he's 'avin a go at ya m8, punch him in da yabba 4 me

Will do. ;)

That being said, did I mention that the Great War is prevented (at least on American soil) by the Socialist President Eugene V. Debs in 1914? (in the mini timeline, not Beneath the Crimson Banner)

Debs furthermore effectively realizes revolution through the ballot box and the formation of a genuine American dictatorship of the proletariat through working within the U.S. governmental system. (read Debs, and you'll see what Harry Turtledove was aiming for)

Things get a bit complex by 1936.

Huey Long is president down south in the good old C.S.A., as tensions flair on the North American continent due to a spate of disquieting happenings in Europe.

That being said, I'm aiming for a reverse Southern Victory Series interwar scenario.

The North, under the leadership of the Socialist Party, finds itself increasingly centralized as capitalism is gradually whittled away at through the years in favor of nationalization.

William Z. Foster has won the presidency, beating Hoover who hails from an increasingly emasculated Democratic Party. As in the Southern Victory Series, a loose coalition exists between the Socialist Party, the Progressive Democrats, and the Republicans.

However, as Foster ratchets up tension by making a big push to put the final nail in the coffin of American capitalism, this multiparty coalition is steadily falling apart.

In the South, the populist Huey Long ("the King Fish") is in the Confederate White House serving out his second term in office as president.

His controversial Share Our Wealth Program is Long's means of placating the restless Confederate poor as to more effectively keep a firm lid on discontent while at the same time putting the rich in their place.

He's inevitably doing a fine balancing act between state capitalism and socialism, obviously not wanting to be accused of being a dirty Red who wants to revolutionize the C.S. from within.

---

Meanwhile, the rhetoric of President Foster only grows in intensity as Northern capitalists flee to the South. Military spending is prioritized as war clouds loom over Europe; a Socialist Germany stands face-to-face with an opposing Franco-Russian alliance eager to expunge Socialism from continental Europe.

Dark days lie ahead for both the C.S.A. and the U.S.A.

Dark days lie ahead for the world.
