in the defines.lua and I arbitrarily decided to lower them both. If nothing else that should at least make it harder for the player to start war after war after war. And most importantly stop myself from letting my troops travel around the realm faster than light. :D

I have a thread at http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?588532-New-traits where I'm floating around the idea of new traits. You're free to use any and all of them... I'm really tired right now and need to get some sleep, so those were all my sleepy mind could come up with right now.
Some of those would be nice as honorable titles.

What do you think about making it possible for empires to disintegrate - you know, I doubt that /except for the Byzantines and the HRE/ the additional de jure empire titles should survive the loss of control over the de jure lands. Example: If someone proclaims himself the Emperor of Britannia and his son loses all the vassals and is left with just England, I think that the Imperial title should vanish.
This would reflect the instability and transcience of the said Empires.
I am not sure about this. Not even sure if we currently have the adequate script commands to program this in a decent way. I thought about adding a new law "Chaos" that increases each time when a plot is successful and that bestows penalties on the realm. But falling apart? Hm.

I guess a few good plots for civil wars could do the trick.

About how many new plots do you have so far?
Plots: Free Prisoner (2 plots, one for selecting a target and one to start the resuce operation).
Ambitions: Child education (one for each category), become older (60/70/80/90/100), become legitimized (for bastards), escape from prison, survive illness.

As I wanted to start a new game with a Northern Country, I found the lack of culture specific building very annoying.
So I quickly made some for Den/Nor/Swe, based off the Russian Armory
I will add a few more buildings later.

Is 1.6 save game compatible with 1.5?
As always: No idea.


Btw, I am quite happy about the current state of affairs. I just quit a game as count of Leinster where I was able to create the empire of Britain around 1250. A bit early and easy for my taste, but the changes to crown and succession laws, plus the emperor penalty make it quite difficult to hold all titles together. After three emperors, I still have only aquired one dutchy from the (currently independened) kingdom of England. Nice. :)

Still a lot of flaws that need tweaking and fixing, but the general direction seems okay, considering how rough that game still is (compared to EU3, for example).

great mod, however I do not like the nerfed "fabricate claims" % chance of success. Can anyone help me to change that rate back to normal?

The chance is not really lower, it just scales better with your chancellor.
Btw: Inviting claimants and pressing their claims is a much faster and cheaper way to expand. ;)

The chance is lower, and a LOT! My chancellor's skill is 19 and i have bit over 5% yearly chance of fabricating a claim. Which used to be like 10% with 13 skill. So unless i get a chancellor with 50 skill it wont really "scale better".

Are you going to return Core and Extensions system? Or is there any easy way to remove all new empires from the mod? I like your balance changes but dont like all these empires...

Very easily done. I like the new kingdoms but not the new empires, so what I do is use notepad++ to search for them all inside common\landedtitles.txt . Say... e_greatbritain. It'll have a curly brace { , a bunch of stuff about colors and capitals, and then it'll have k_england, and a bunch more stuff. All I do is click the first { after e_greatbritain (which Notepad++ will hight) then I go to the View menu and click "go to matching brace," delete the ending brace, search for e_greatbritain again and delete it and all the stuff about colors and capitals all the way up to k_england, which I leave alone.

Repeat for e_francia, e_iberia, e_scandinavia, etc etc. Save the file, and then load up a game and check out the de jure empire filter. They should be gone. :)

One ambition is just named }_title

If so what do you need to change? I would rather not lose my savegame but its really annoying getting those "Prince Svend wants to }" all the time.

Yeah know what you mean...I have had 3 generations of advisors trying to make a claim in Lubeck now.

Like the lower chance myself, makes me work for it and find ways to get people with claims to my court, do not think it should be easy to lay claims to other peoples lands without a very good reason :) but that's me :)


Just wanted to say to that the anti pope is still to OP, if I ever play a game online with someone a rule will be no anti popes :) do not use them myself in my games :) but no problem if you do not change because I will never make one.

Heck its the Dark ages...people didnt care about claims they just took what they wanted. I would prefer a system like in EU3 where you could take what you wanted but would be faced with angry neighbours, an angry pope and REALLY angry former owners.

Do not agree with that :) it was a very good reason kings had so little power in this time.

the middle ages had very hard set rules for taking christian lands and you can take a lot of lands from pagens and muslims without any problems.

Think of it this way if your a count do you think you should get a CB on every county around you :) if they did this they would have to include that everyone in your kingdom would go to war with you as soon as you did this, its the same for any kingdom in the HRE, as soon as you attacked a land for no reason the emperor and everyone under him would be at war with you.

I agree on this .
Dark ages were ruthless but there were a strict rules among nobility(those lucky few).

People have might took what they wanted sometimes but we play on much grandier scale here...

For example a great warrior and ruthless adventurer Bohemund from Tarent almost a "iconic hero" of first crusade is just a weak count!
And that was a kinda guy that took what he wanted and he was gratefull for Antiochia!
And how hard it was for him to keep it for few years!

Its just not realistic forging a kingdom in a few decades and make it look ok, by fabricating claims on half of Italy.:p

This is maybe one of the best things on this mod although i get my ass kicked pretty often,hell i am glad i am able to survive not to mention conquest.:rolleyes:

Since they're being added everywhere else, and it is a historic empire (albeit not a Christian one), what about a Persian Empire combining the de jure kingdoms of Persia and Mesopotamia?
