Just thought of something....is it possible to include a positive opinion modifier if you build in a vassals holding or is that too hidden in hardcoding? My vassals tend to use their money on rubbish in stead of inproving their holdings.

Well I'm through with the 1st phase of the Renaming Project. I post it here since I thought about it while playing GAGA's excellent mod. It started as merely a flavor mod but now it's turning into something else. I've attached an Excell 2007 workchart that details where I want to go with this. If Gaga is interested I will complete the other 2 Holding Type workcharts...
I have only had time to have a glance at it, but it seems like a good idea. What I had in mind was: At least 6 building levels for each building type, one for each tech level (0-5), plus some lategame "epic" levels for things like fortifications and stuff. Please add the other two holding types to the excel file and I will send it back with some commentary.

One thing I noticed already: I wouldn't add too moch supply limit via buildings, because that does also increase supply limit for the enemy, a quite undesired effect most of the time. If anything I would add a tiny bit of extra attrition, maybe to forts, to make up for that.

Can I also re-request loosing all of the German Kingdoms save Grand Lotharingian (Lotharingia + Holland)? I have seen the AI make Kingdom of Lorraine too easily, and I don't think it seems right to have some many kingdoms in Germany.
As for Byzantium, can I suggest putting the Sultanate Rum in anatolia, but only creatable by Muslims (or Turks if it can be culture specific).
You can, but I won't change it atm. I'd rather have more kings around and a nerfed HRE.
But once CORE+EXTENSION features are back, you will be able to switch between the things you like.

EDIT: And I would suggest further to delete all references to buildings in all the textX.csv files as well as your own localization file and concentrate the lot under one buildings.csv file - much more tidy and easy to edit later on.

As for localisation: Afaik mod localistations are loaded AFTER the base files, so they will override the original text. No need to delete them. :)

Just out of curiosity, does anyone think it's possible to mod in a trait that would give a newly crowned ruler a vassal modifier based on his/her parent's previous success [...]
As it stands, it doesn't really make much sense that a new king essentially starts from scratch, especially if his predecessor led the entire Kingdom to high glory. [...][/I]
Children receive some prestige depending on dynasty prestige (aka "score"). So if your dynasty is successful, your heir will start with some additional prestige.
It would probably be possible to add certain checks so that the deeds of the previous king have an influence on heir perception, but honestly, too much work and the effect is a bit doubious.

To be honest, the whole "holy war" thing is just a giant mess. Sometimes I think it would be best if the game allowed "no casus belli" wars with heavy penalties. That way holy war could be nerfed, but expansion would not as limited as it is now.

But, wait... Maybe fabricate claims should just work with increased speed on heathens?

Perhaps allow Duchy wide claims (wherever possible) for heathens? I've had it happen once with a catholic target, not sure what triggers it normally.

I guess some more info for the mission tooltips would be nice.
Btw, if you want, you may script additional events for job missions and post them here. If they fit, they will be added to the mod.

So could u please tell me what sub mods are within your Major mod. I cant find that information anywhere and if u would guide me to it, I could compare the mods u use with the other mods to see which mods
are missing IMO?
Empires from (1) are in. (2) is in. (3) will be added once it is polished enough. (4) will require a lot of work - I guess it will be the next paradox DLC, so I will not bother with adding stuff like this atm.

If a ruler gets up to 1000 Prestige, add a "Son of a Great Ruler" trait to his children which gives them a relationship bonus with members of the kingdom. The prestige that gets passed onto your heir is great, certainly, but it doesn't affect your relationships with your subjects... which, as pointed out, seems a tad unrealistic.
The question is: Why should all vassals like the son of a great ruler? Isn't there even MORE pressure on him to be as great as his father? Or at least that he has to hold all the stuff together that was conquered by him.
I think it would be better to add some player specific ambitions - truly great ones, like "Amass 10.000 gold", "Get 5.000 prestige", "Have relation 100 with all vassals". ;)

I guess I have the opposite problem from a lot of posters... I don't mind that a newly crowned king doesn't have an established relationship with his vassals. It makes sense they'd distrust him a little until they got the measure of him. What I have a problem with is how liberally the "long reign" bonus is handed out. It's handed out to good kings and to bad ones, so that it doesn't matter how much you've been running the realm into the ground, or if you trample all over your vassals' feelings regularly, if you've been screwing them over for thirty years they'll love you for it. Maybe it's supposed to simulate Stockholm Syndrome, but I wouldn't think a long reign should be positive unless it was a long good reign, and if it's a bad reign they should get more fed up with it over time, not less. Maybe scale long reign bonuses with your traits, or something?
I already nerft the "long reign" bonus, but - tbh - don't want to get rid of it. I guess it represents something like a "Status Quo" that is slowly established as time flows by and the nobility gets used to the ruler. Bad reign decisions are already accounted for by tyranny in the form of long lasting opinion penalties. It would be nice if each ruler had a "tyranny" value, a bit like BB in the other Pdox games, but frankly I doubt it is possible to add a decent system at this point.

Why not extend the HRE into Northern Italy and Burgundy? That would weaken it a bit (more electors, who are foreign cultured...), it also seems fairly realistic.
On the contrary, I think that would make them STRONGER. If a province is assigned as de-jure territory, the AI is much, much more likely to become a vassal of the de-jure title, even when it is a foreigner. And since pretenders were removed from elective, fractured elections have not really a large impact on the title stability...

Yes, but only the empires mechanism.
Exactly. Kingdom creation was not added when I integrated the mod. And I don't think that we need costum kingdom creation.
Might be added as an extension at a later point, but currently de-jure kingdoms are enough.

I'm now getting CTDs when I try to hover over the requirements for hiring Marshalls, Stewards, etc. Anyone know why this might be happening?
My guess: Your install is messed up, the character modifier is missing and the game goes BOOM.

I got a bug report, Holy Distant War makes you lose 250 piety if you win the war.

I think that death rate of children should a little bit nerfed. After 1.04 patch, it is very hard to have a children pass his fifteen. I know Medieval era was deadly but it shouldn't be that deadly for a child growing in a castle with utmost care.
My changes be influenced by Pdox stuff from the current patch. Will have a look at it.

I think if a county is taken by rebels and gets conquered completely, it should have some consequences. The way it is now, the rebels just destroy some buildings and that's it. Big whoop if you have an income of 30 gold a month.
I think if you neglect to defeat the rebels it should give a penalty to prestige and relations. Maybe even a chance the county in question going independant ?
Rebels in CK2 are disgruntled peasants. They can declare independened if they are of different religion or culture.
Penalties might be increased, but only once the AI can actually deal with rebels.

Is the future Roman Empire you were considering going to be made up of Sicily, Italy and Burgundy? Or are you just going to leave them as de Jure Empireless? If you do lump those three in maybe lump in Africa as well?

Hey, it seems since patch 1.04, playing with your mod seems to bug the "fabricate claim" as the percentage for a Councillor with 15 points in diplomacy has a 6% chance rate rather than somewhere in the 10% rate.
Also is their a way to remove the -5 opinion rate of "we have a female councilor happen to us"

(1) Nothing was changed for fabricate claims. Only thing that 1.04 might have done is change the MTTH / % calculation and/or display.
(2) Tech "cultural flexibility" 3+ in your capital.

I guessed that could be the problem as well, but I edited the save game to make the count who borders the pagans and his county Catholic and still nothing happened. I've been able to use Holy War by taking the county from him, but I don't remember BGA adding a rule that your personal demesne has to border the pagan/Muslim in question to use Holy War (since that would mean Apulia couldn't use Holy War either I'm pretty sure). And, as I said, I couldn't declare war on Lappland even though the Duke of Trondelag's demesne borders it.
The more I think about it... I will scrap the "remote holy war CB" and just introduce the old holy war with increased requirements.

PS. I also find it odd that the "Crusader" trait gives me a +5 opinion modifier with the Caliph of the Shia Caliphate after I snatched Jerusalem from him. It's not completely crazy, though, because I guess there's some basis for saying that the Crusaders and their foes grew to respect each others somewhat, but maybe consider making the +5 opinion for "Crusader" limited to Christians (or even Catholics)?

I'm done with the compilation of the Building Revamp Mod - and it does load (tried it alone, with BGA, the HRE one, the CK2 Heraldry one and the Cultural Cities one) but it needs calibration. I wouldn't load the 1066Cities one alongside it though - I've only modded the Byzantion province file since it was at the time the most developed city in the Western world. I had to REM all building entries in GAGA.csv as well - there seem to be a precedence when the mods load which prevented my csv file to load properly and was displaying the names incorrectly.
Good work. There are still some minor things. Is there any way I can contact you directly, like ICQ, Skype or teamspeak?
Have you tried dependancies to make sure you CSV is loaded last?

Also any chance of getting the Duchy of Savoie split into Savoie and Piedmont with Savoie remaining in Burgundy and Piedmont in Italy?

Is it possible to set limits on modifiers? I can stand it, it's just sort of annoying is all.
I also don't mean to seem like I don't like your mod, in fact it's the only thing I play with, it's just that one thing stood out to me and I wondered if you had noticed it too.
Yes, bit not for triggered modifiers. I am not happy with the general opinion penatly, but there is nothing I can do. Blame Paradox. :p

I have only recently found the option to switch to open elective in the choices, and wonder if maybe the requirements are rather to easy for such a powerful succession law?
Open Elective should not be accessible for the player. Only Open Succession.

Also, on later start dates, Agnatic Open is the succession law for most every where still, how easy is this to change (for an idiot like me)?
With the latest release, Open Succession should not be the default succession law for the other bookmarks.

Where did this company of st. George come from and how did they land so suddenly and have such high quality troops? I actually think it was a fun thing to happen but never saw them before this. Are they mercenaries gone rogue or something? If there are some holy order or independent that was created I wonder why they declared war on me and took advantage of the civil war so fast especially since Croatia is Catholic and was in good standing, not ex-communicated etc?
Mercs can become landed. Either if someone grants them land (afaik that grants you a 50%(?) discount for hiring them) or if they revolt (lack of payment). They should retain their original merc sized troop stack, so that may have caused your trouble. ;)

Please make sure to build events that allow a more easier conversion of religion for children educated by foreign bishops. When you go conquering you really need to also blend in the culture, dynastically, which is generally easier to do than converting the whole populace to your religion. As orthodox in southern Italy I am surrounded by catholics and as soon as I move my marshall from home there's riots (religion + culture penalty).
Switching heir culture should not be easy. I consider it a gamey exploit. Religion is okay, though and I may add a bonus to the conversation event for bishops (or increase it, if it is already there).

Excellent mod under all other aspects, can't wait for the new version. ETA?

I have not much time atm. Next change probably should add the reworked building system and some minor fixes only.

In the second case, is this a matter of a bad install on my part that this is happening, or some other weirdness I don't know about? Incidently, the date I noticed this occurence of everyone having open succesion was not on a bookmark, but a specific date I chose myself, could this have something to do with it?
Succession laws are only fixed for bookmarks.

I will release an update during the weekend:
(1) Fix child death ratio.
(2) Change holy war.
(3) Nerf Open Succession and Elective.

I am sorry folks, but I am really busy right now - the mod will be on hold for at least two weeks.

Feel free to use the current version to add new stuff (if you add other mods, ask creators for clearance from original creators first and give credit where it is due!).
The best way to add these changes would be if you would create modules - new mods with BGA as a dependancy. This way I can include your additions in the next release version.

Is the crown authority law in this mod still applicable to de jure kingdoms?
Yes.

I can press distant holy wars, but it says if I win I will lose 250 piety ! This seems odd, surely if I defeat the infidel I should GAIN piety.
Also, I couldn't declare distant holy wars earlier in my game, but now I have some land in Jerusalem, so is this why I can press this CB now ?
You pay 250 piety to get the duchy. Otherwise holy war is overpowered.
There are to CB: Holy war, for adjected heathen duchies and distant holy war, against any heathen not adjected.
