I've heard some time ago that Belgium even was considering to declare Holland war right after 1918 to get Zeeland and Limburg. But the Brittish contained them. Is this true or just an urban legend?

From what I've read Belgium wanted Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and Limburg because the Netherlands had allowed German forces to retreat trough Limburg. But the great powers didn't feel the need to get involved in it and the idea died out.

a interesting side note is that Anton Mussert ( Nationaal Socialistiche Bond) was very against it what made him known in Holland,
second sidenote: because of that the Dutch government purchased ponts to make the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen people more dutch.

Needless to say we would have won ;) :D

Another reason it died out pretty quickly were our handy politicians, plus that we had harbored about a million Belgian refugees.

Wasn´t it also true that the Brits feared the Netherlands would become an ally of a new, strong Germany had they been forced to hand over these two provinces? Dutch and Germans both looking for revenge for Versailles? Don´t know if it´s true, but that´s what I heard...

If the fear of German revisionism has been so much active in minds of the deciders of Versaille then I doubt that the treaty would have been ever concluded like that. Considering the Netherlands a serious factor was probably even lower on the agenda. Apart from the fact that the Netehrlands were neutral in the ww1 (and all countries eventually respected their neutrality)

I also read something about a pre-emptive strike against Belgium, if they didn’t drop there claim.
But than again we Dutch aren’t famous for waging war, are we……

Not in the last centuries, but Maurits van Nassau was a great commander and innovater of military affairs once. Once, ah yeah.... The time when Holland ruled the waves....

*slowly fades away to distant shores in distant times when the Dutch tricolore was to be seen everywhere*

Besides, most of "our" fighting on land was against natives in some jungle on the other side of the world. There we did fine, thank you. :D

Well we did get defeated only once by the Germans and only once by the French and have invaded England succesfully so it cant be that bad;)
But the main reasons nothing came of Belgian claims is that Holland had stayed entirely neutral (well except for some minor thingies of course) and the Belgian refugees.
