Eat your heart out, tuore:p

This was seriously the most enjoyable game of EU I have ever played. I was contantly at risk of being crushed, I had to declare many wars with no CBs, I won my wars by manourver and careful use of terrain.

When most of Italy was under my control and I went to take the Austrian lands, they were huge. They had eatten most of Hungary and parts of Bohemia and Poland. They were also the HRE Emp. They were at war with Venice and had a 90 (!!!) unit army in Treviso (admittedly that was a bit silly, attrittion had worn it down to 60k) with a 6 shock general. My leader, the Pope, only had 2 shock but 4 manouver.

I managed to ally with France, and I had control of enough cardinals to Excomunnicate Austria. This was apparently too much for the Archduke, as he promtly died, leaving a regency council in his place, so the Emperorship passed to Bohemia.

I declared war, Austria's doomstack marched into Verona, the battle raged for weeks, but eventually Austria had to retreat. My superior manourver let me reach Treviso before them and, with the high passes occupied, they had no choice but to surrender after a brief battle. Deus vault!

With Austria done for, all France got to do was beat up Bohemia while I sieged Austria. After that a few quick wars snapped up Venice and a few leftover minors, and the Kingdom was declared.

Does the name actually change or you just remain the Papal State ?

Is it possible to kickstart the papacy again in any way? :p

I don't think so, no. The Papacy ingame was all about controling enough cardinals to control the Pope, but I'm far too powerful for that now :D It's a shame I can't call crusades or Excom anyone any more, but apparently the rest of the world thinks I'm too secular to listen to anymore :( I guess I'll just have to go crusading on my own, and express my displeasure in more temporal ways.

ladybug: Not really. As far as I know the rest of the religious system churns on regardless. I expect it'll annoy anyone who was focusing on increadingt ehir papal influence though :D

It is BETTER than Italy - did you see the yearly manpower and prestige boni?

You still have the papacy form of government, right?
Can you change it with the appropriate rebels? Revolutionaries, for instance? If so, become a kingdom, get elected Holy Roman Emperor (the real deal) and unify the HRE. At the same time you must also conquer Judea, of course.

Hm so in theory you can do this as the original Pope - vassalize a minor, then take all these lands you have taken in this game to be able to create Kingdom of God and sell them to that minor. Then make use of your papal powers until 1650 and then diplo-annex your vassal and then make the kingdom of god :D

I am not sure if I like loosing the stab bonuses of holding the cardinals, the WE diminishing of being the papal retainer. And the other Christian options.

Also, please not that the Kingdom of Heaven has no King. Just Pope ;-)
