Not seen anyone mention this yet, so I think I'm the first:
Eat your heart out, tuore
This was seriously the most enjoyable game of EU I have ever played. I was contantly at risk of being crushed, I had to declare many wars with no CBs, I won my wars by manourver and careful use of terrain.
When most of Italy was under my control and I went to take the Austrian lands, they were huge. They had eatten most of Hungary and parts of Bohemia and Poland. They were also the HRE Emp. They were at war with Venice and had a 90 (!!!) unit army in Treviso (admittedly that was a bit silly, attrittion had worn it down to 60k) with a 6 shock general. My leader, the Pope, only had 2 shock but 4 manouver.
I managed to ally with France, and I had control of enough cardinals to Excomunnicate Austria. This was apparently too much for the Archduke, as he promtly died, leaving a regency council in his place, so the Emperorship passed to Bohemia.
I declared war, Austria's doomstack marched into Verona, the battle raged for weeks, but eventually Austria had to retreat. My superior manourver let me reach Treviso before them and, with the high passes occupied, they had no choice but to surrender after a brief battle. Deus vault!
With Austria done for, all France got to do was beat up Bohemia while I sieged Austria. After that a few quick wars snapped up Venice and a few leftover minors, and the Kingdom was declared.
