You have to get really high relations with the electors, whom you can see by going to the religion view. Also might be helpful to vassalize them.

The new emperor is only elected when the old emperor is gone. So either until the current emperor (monarch) dies - or destroy the country that is emperor and hope to be the next in line. That however is difficult as for example annexing the former emperor will likely lower your relations with all other electors .

Let him be annexed by one of your allies... But increase your relations with Electors to the max just before.ConjurerDragon said:
Remember that the electors are not only the historical ones but all the German princes in the HRE + Bohemia and Austria. And that Cologne and Palatinate have 2 votes against 1 of the others.grkkid said:
You can see it by checking country.csv in DB folder in the last but one column where the figures can be 0,1 or 2 according to the imperial status.
It always helps if all of europe hates each other, of course. Funny thing about voting, you only have to be less hated. By the way, what are the actual benefits of being emperor? I've been it for about a century now in my Brandenburg game, with no clue as to what it actually did.
I really think someone should add this to the EU2 wiki, since there's absolutely no Emperor topic there. It'd be very helpful.
