No those are not my measurements.

I find that once you research BBs and a spinal weapon they start to absolutely melt enemy fleets before they can even get a shot off due to their range. This rendered all other classes of ships worthless for anything except point defense, which you really only need a destroyer sized chassis for. Where I could not put PDs I put auto-cannons to deal with smaller ships.

My current DD to BB ratio is 2:1 and its working out pretty well.

Is there any reason to use any of the other ships?

PS: is it foolish of me to try and get the 95% damage reduction from armor instead of just dedicating all slots to shields as I have seen some people do? I know it isn't practical to do in the early game and I don't but once I get tier three armor always shoot for 95% before adding any shields.

There is a reason to use smaller ships, particularly against a fallen empire equipped with titan lasers that 1 shot your battleships. It's always better to use smaller ships against enemies with advanced battleship destroying weapons.

I've started using cruisers with a fighter bay as PD-ships. They live longer than destroyers, are more capable to destroy other ships and the fighers cover a lot more area than the point defence.

On the other hand, fighters tend to fly away and attack whatever they wish, instead staying near their mothership and shooting down missing... While it's far down the tech tree, I prefer to use flak for point defense. Usually mounting a couple of my non-carrier BBs and one on carrier Cruisers.

Flak is not something I feel I can depend on. I've only gotten flak in a handfull of games. Fighters that move along into the enemy fleet may start shooting down missiles as soon as they are launched.

If the enemy has lots of PD I can see them being less efficient in this manner, but you will still have PD-guns on your cruisers.

same my cruisers are a mix of flack and fighters i also give them afterburners this lets them close on the enemy fleet and make a mess of their DDs

however overall i think BBs are too cheap if the would cost more you other ships would become more viable

I believe the maximum armor reduction caps at 90% (i.e. 160 or 180 armor dont remember exactly)

In pure BB vs Cruiser-fights, cruisers for the same fleet-cap tends to win, so not sure if BB needs to be nerfed in any way

aye but that's not what i'm talking about like i said i use just BB and cruisers i only need enough cruisers to screen for my BBs against DD and other cruisers after that all of it just goes into BB and the XL cannons make quick work of any fleet comp i have come up against solo or in multiplayer
