One line summary of your issue
Update to 1.0.4 Deletes All Saved Games

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Today, I started up Battletech and waited for Steam to update the game to 1.0.4. Once I got into the main menu, I could no longer load my campaign or any saved games. The buttons are grayed out, as if the saved games don't exist.

Steps to reproduce the issue
- Start a campaign on version 1.0.3
- Update to 1.0.4
- Start game
- Notice that your saved games are gone
- Rage quit and go spend more time with your family

Same report: no save games, no continue, immediately after updating to 1.0.4.

Ahem... about 101 hours of play in one game, actually about to start final missions.

EDIT: Opted out of betas, savegames came back.

Same report. Your save games still exist you just have to opt back out of Beta. Which means I am done playing until this is fixed because out of beta the game is too unstable for me.

Highly frustrating and really killing the experience for me.

Yes. A few tense minutes there, with 360+ hours game play on the line.

Opting out of the beta makes the saves visible again, opting back in makes them disappear once more, so, no beta for me for the time being.

If anyone's lost saves who wasn't using the beta, I can only suggest you try enabling it, good luck.

Same issue as OP and following posts.

Save games disappear with the 1.0.4 patch in the loader within the game.

Disabling/Enabling the Steam cloud feature does nothing.

Opting out of the beta allows BattleTech to see the save fails again.

Nothing was ever deleted by the update, just not visible to the Build version of BT.

Looks like there is an issue with the latest patch, they mention that modding is NOT officially supported, and can issues with the save game files. Rolling back the from the beta patch to the 1.03 patch seems to fix the issue.

"Additional note for players who mod various game files…Reminder that modding is not officially supported. If you have saved a game with any mod active, that saved game will not work after an update has been applied unless you replace all modded files exactly as they were when the save game file was created. Saved games require the exact same data state in order to function properly."

Mods have nothing to do with this one. It just straight-up stopped reading save game files for people in the Beta. I'm assuming it might have something to do with where people install their Battletech exe and such, since it is affecting a lot of people but not 100%. No devs have commented but until they do we don't know. But it's not mods.

It's also not a fix to 'restore functionality' when opting out of Beta causes a ton of crashes. I either have to start over 78 hours of gameplay or deal with the game crashing every few turns.

There was also a thread about this in the main forum.

If you are opted in to the Beta patches, the first thing to try is to opt out.

Your save games are very likely not gone, it's just a strange compatibility thing having to do with the different "patch paths".

After opting out of Public Beta, there was about a 1 GB download, and the version on the menu shows 1.04- xxxx Saves came back. I do not know if that means it is actually 1.04, or if it is a remnant of the old patch.

it seems that's the solution. maybe the beta is the same version as the normal client and so the save game path is messed up.
After going back to the normal version and still have 1.04 everything is ok.
