Wow. What a retro advertisement. Fantastic!

This would be a very intriguing mod - and I'd love to see it happen. But are you sure you could do it? The game is not even released yet, and I know Paradox have stated it will be moddable, but that's not the same as knowing it can be modded into THIS. :)

In interest, what period would you pick to base the mod on?

Oh this is just a post for enthusiast and discussion. Unfortunately not knowing ANYTHING about the game means it's all speculation. There are really only two time periods worth looking at though(to me). Fourth Succession War and Operation Revival :)

Well, I love this intro...
Even though I ever only played the demo of that game, back in days (tried recently multiplayer of Mechwarrior online, but... meh...)
Anyway, I'm not so sure you can translate that atmosphere into HOI universe... It's different game.

Very possible. You can change the map to fit, it'll just take a lot of time. Making the unit roster changes would actually be really quick, and modelling all the mechs as tanks and expanding on the variant system could be really sick. Suitable generic tech tree shouldn't take long.

Two things would be big time sinks, map (unless you go with a moshpit on Terra) and art. Other than that, a base mod could be pumped out real easily. After the base mod's out, feet up and slowly develop unique tech trees for each faction.

I admit I don't know the Battlemech universe too well. Are you saying they work on the level of HOI4? Divisions and divisions with hundreds of mechs, navy, air force, factories?

Factories and so on, yeah. Numbers, the mechs are relatively few and far between, but that can be done through expense (as it is in-universe), and they still use high numbers of infantry and so on, with a few more expensive and specialised variants like power armoured dudes and jump infantry. Conventional airforces and aerospace equivalents. Haven't seen reference to navy, probably considered obsolete with orbit-capable combat craft and so on.

There are just over a dozen ship types, maaaaaybe just enough to fill out a tech tree. It'd have to be the same tree for everyone though. Though you could make that case for all the other fighting machines.

I'd be super hyped for a BattleTech mod though.

Let this be the last time we EVER mention anything past 3060(Jihad and the such). Well bargained and done. The standing armies of the great houses were about 10 to 15K mechs so building mechs at 10 or so a week would hardly be that hard. Also, the starting tech to getting warships should be VERY high as only Comstar and the clans were actively building them prior to 3055. The question is whether the planets should be 1 zone bigs(kind like the pacific islands) or a couple of zone bigs,,, :) Must stop and breathe... :)
