One line summary of your issue
Missing Enemy Mech - Defense:Smithson

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Guys,

One of the mission objectives - kill all enemy mechs 0/10
But the mission only has 9 enemy mech turn up - and I have searched most of the map for the 10th
It means I cannot complete this mission - as it doesn't end until the objective is met
Various internet threads also state only 9 enemy mechs

I tried editing the .json to remove the "Destroy All Hostiles" - but that didn't work. I even went back to a previous system and save

Any ideas?

Steps to reproduce the issue

Same issue. Have rebooted the game, saved and reloaded. Nothing. 1 mech that just won't show. No option to withdraw. There's a brief message before the last drop ship takes off about exiting mission. But nothing ever comes of it.

Ran into same problem just now.... Tried tinkering with the Json, to try and edit the objective from 10 to 9 mechs, but could not find where to do that. Sadly I dont have a backup file, and if I redownload it its the 1.1.1 version again with the bug.... Couldnt find the file online anywhere either...

Evetually ejected all pilots, since there is not retreat button.... ( maybe it would work?) Forgot it was IRONMAN MODE!!!!!!! Lost all progress.....

I also managed to fix the bug by switching for an older version of the Smithon_Defense_Default.json. At least we know where the bug is.

If you don't have access to a backup file you have several options:
  1. If using Steam: You can change your game version to the 1.0.4 Beta. I checked myself and the bug is fixed if you switch to this older version. Once you have progressed through the bugged mission, you can switch back to 1.1.1
  2. If using Gog: I'm not sure if Gog allows you to download a previous version of a game. If not, there is a workaround to get a clean game version, but I cannot discuss this here since it would go against forum rules (if you are stuck, feel free to PM me).

Concur that this is still a problem for me. I had to revert back to 1.0.4, restart the mission, and go back to 1.1.1 after concluding it. The victory condition couldn't be met because the scenario claimed a requirement of 10 hostiles of which there were only 9 in the first place. Something got screwed up in an update somewhere and the game apparently doesn't crosscheck actual conditions with the written condictions.
