Mid-battle Save - Enemies don't spawn

I am on the liberate the Argo mission, and I had to save and leave the computer. When I try to reload the save, it loads in ok, but no enemies spawn. When it is their turn, the wheel spinner is just doing it's thing in the corner. I also lose the option to save the game, and the load screen is blank; so I can't reload the save.
Steps to reproduce the issue
Save the game after defeating the first wave of enemies on the Raising the Argo mission.
