Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The Campaign works fine, the mech bay works fine, but the single player skirmish will not load. I have tried to validate the files via steam, I have deleted the game files and reloaded them, all to no avail. NO MODS INSTALLED.

Steps to reproduce the issue
update the game to 1.2 and try to load a skirmish

Attach DxDiag (PC) or System Info (Mac)

Attach Output Log

Attach Crash Log

Attach save file

Attach screenshot / video

I'm having the same issue with both steam launcher and the launcher in the game files.
My Specs:
Processor Intel i7-4790s CPU @ 3.20Ghz
RAM: 16.0 GB
Windows 10 Home
Version 1803
GeForce GTX 1080 16 GB
Driver 399.07

I get the Welcome commander prompt than the endless loop. In my task manager the GPU is running at 53% and I get a GPU -3D prompt.
When I rolled back to a previous version on the game the skirmish worked

Is that log from after playing a campaign perhaps? Because I don't see what I'd expect to see from the typical hang-on-load issue. Can you please duplicate the problem and then attach a log here from then please? Thanks!

Here is the output and error log found in file 2018-09-16_235000 after attempting to enter skirmish single player. It is from a clean Uninstall following the pinned instructions in the Battletech Mod-Forum and Installation via steam. I went directly into skirmish and did not attempt to play the campaign

Yours is a different issue:

UserSettings [ERROR] Google.Protobuf.InvalidProtocolBufferException: Protocol message contained an invalid tag (zero).
at Google.Protobuf.CodedInputStream.ReadTag () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

Go to your BATTLETECH profile directory (usually in c:\Users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH) and then just delete 'profiles.dat' found inside .

actually i took the last saved log. played Campaign Before i tried singleplayer skirmish and waited, and waited. Went out of the program and attached the output file i found.

how do i get the one you need?

just open the game, try only single player skirmish and then leave again?

but i will try the solution you pointed out for Socipat.

who knows, it might just work.

The profile directory is not in the steam folder, or?

Every time you run the game, or try to, that log is rewritten.

Please try this:

- put Steam into offline mode

- delete the files C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USER_ID\637090\remote\C#\settings_cloud.sav and c:\Users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH\profiles.dat

- run the game up

- so into Single Player, mech Lab, and make the game do a save

- exit the game, put Steam into online mode, and try the game again.

Nope, no luck!

Program asked me to either load the older steam version or the newer version.

Chose newer version on my computer.

But, no luck!

We have a report of a fix for this:

Open up RegEdit.exe, navigate to 'Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH'. Now... start off by deleting the 'CachedSettings_h2706256392' key. See if that fixes the issue.
